app and character limits
Players may app up to two characters per app round, and can play up to a maximum of ten. Moderators reserve the right to restrict how many characters a current player may apply for if it appears they are having difficulty maintaining activity with their existing characters. While not an absolutely immutable rule, before a player applies for further characters, we would like to see one post a month from all their characters already in the game or regular commenting on other characters' posts. This is not an AC requirement and no one will be removed from the game for not meeting it. It is a guideline to help ensure that our players can keep up with their character load.

Since we accept AU characters and characters with CR from other games, we have a restriction on how many copies of a character can be in the game at a time before they become unavailable. As such, only one canon, one AU, and one other game CR AU will be accepted, for a total of three different versions. In the case of malleable protagonists, we allow three different versions. That could be three "canon" versions, or two canon and a CR AU, or any other combination. This is still the same effective cap in number as for other character types, but includes a little flexibility about how we define AUs for the purposes of the game, since any two Couriers or Grey Wardens can be very different, yet equally canonical.

During the app round, a mod will reply with acceptance, rejection, or request for revisions as soon as possible. Please note that the mods and app team make a strong effort to respond to apps in the order received, but the mods may appear to skip over some apps depending on their familiarity with the canon or because of ongoing discussion amongst the team. Some apps are easier calls than others, but no app is ignored. If you would like to know the status of your application at any time, please ask a mod. When apps are closed, (stated in the status block at the top of this page) reserves will open here.
what is appable
For the most part, any character is appable, provided the player can demonstrate the ability to play them. Singularity accepts characters from all media, with a few exceptions:
  • Media not available in English in any form, even fan translations.
  • Fan characters.
  • Real people, unless deceased and from a fictionalized portrayal. (Examples: The American Founding Fathers from 1776, Nicola Tesla from The Prestige, William Shakespeare from Shakespeare in Love.)
  • Mythological/folkloric characters, unless taken from a specific adaptation. (Examples: Hades from Disney's Hercules, the Archangel Gabriel from Hellblazer, Constantine, or The Prophecy, Amaterasu from Okami.)
Singularity does accept minor characters with little canon, but we require that the application thoroughly flesh out their personalities with well-reasoned extrapolation from what canon information is available.

Occasionally, a rapidly-developing canon like Homestuck or Red vs Blue may throw plot curveballs. For well-established characters, this is not usually a problem, but minor characters may be substantially altered by new information. While not strictly banned, if your character is likely to be affected by revelations in the near future, we ask that you hold off on an application until the story arc is resolved.
original characters
Original characters are welcome, but only from existing players. This might seem unfair to some applicants, but we'd like to see how a player performs with someone else's character before playing their own. OC apps are given closer scrutiny than fandom apps, because we are essentially serving as editors in their case. Fandom characters have already been through the editorial process, and have been vetted for inconsistencies and implausibility. (Some more successfully than others, but we work with what we have.)
playing closely-related characters
As a general rule, a single player is not allowed to app two closely-associated characters. These would be siblings, lovers, close companions or rivals, etc, regardless of whether one is canon and one is AU. An exception is made for characters who naturally "go together." For example, 3 and 4 from 9, or Doc infected with O'Malley from Red vs Blue (since O'Malley has a different personality inside Doc as opposed to inside someone else). Players don't have to app pairs like these together, but they have the option. Additionally, both characters will count toward your character limit, so please app wisely.

Another exception: characters with multiple personalities, whether perfectly healthy and functional or resulting from a psychological condition like Dissociative Identity Disorder can arrive with those personalities intact, and will count as only one character, regardless of how many identities they have.
playing physically-incompatible characters
Characters that are physically incompatible with the human-scaled, O2 environment of the station may be converted to a more compatible state--for instance, Na'vi from Avatar would be able to breathe oxygen, and Omega Supreme from Transformers might find himself only as tall as Optimus Prime. Characters without independent bodies (for example, the AI Cortana from Halo) have the option of being inserted into a mechanical body or some sort of mobile platform. They can always switch out to another body later.

If you have a character with attributes not covered here and are not sure how they might live in Singularity, please visit the Contact page to speak to a mod or app team member.
apping from alternate universes or timelines
Singularity accepts multiples of all characters, but only one "canon"/original universe (OU) version of anyone. All others have to be alternate universe (AU). The least complicated AUs are the canon AUs, like the Kingdom Hearts versions of Square Enix characters or the various Commanders Shepard from Mass Effect. "Canon AU" is something of a misnomer; malleable protagonists and canons with multiple continuities are equally canonical and the apps are judged as such, but any duplicates are considered AUs for game bookkeeping purposes, such as community tags and caps on the number of multiples. Player-made AUs are also appable. However, this doesn't mean that any given player-created AU is going to be a good match for the game. You should be able to explain convincingly why your version of the character fits and will be playable while remaining recognizably a canon character.

For instance, Commander Shepard can plausibly be male or female because the setting of Mass Effect is gender-egalitarian and the story does not change more than superficially with the player's choice of gender for their Shepard. On the other hand, an AU where Commander Shepard was not human--say, a Turian--would require the plot of the Mass Effect games to be entirely rewritten because it would change everything about the background and motivations of the character, and would make no sense without substantially altering the sociopolitics of the universe.

A case where gender would matter is for a Disney princess like Ariel from The Little Mermaid or Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Because of the gender roles assumed by the setting and the major effect this would have on the character's relationships and the story itself, it goes beyond the scope of an RP character to simply do a gender change.

Players may find it easier to app from AUs where one key event from after the story is well underway is altered--for example, if Luke Skywalker had accepted Darth Vader's offer at the end of The Empire Strikes Back. It is a challenge, but not an insurmountable one, to explain why Luke would have chosen differently in the AU. Star Wars would still be recognizable as Star Wars, and Luke as Luke. However, an AU where Luke and Leia were raised by Vader fundamentally alters the premise of the story; the plot of the Star Wars trilogy would be entirely different in a universe where Leia hadn't grown up on Alderaan as the adopted child of a Rebel leader and Luke had never been a farmer on Tatooine or met Ben Kenobi. The idea, while compelling, is material better suited for a fanfic than RP, where you as writer control not only your character, but other characters' reactions to them, and have the opportunity to set the stage for the reader and guide their expectations. RP is a collaborative exercise for creating and exploring stories jointly, and intricate AUs are a bad vehicle for this.

Mods and app team members do reserve the right to reject or ask for revisions on an AU app if that app includes AU information that does not seem to make sense for the character/canon being apped. If you are trying to AU a children's movie into an unnecessarily dark scenario with cannibalism and murder and what have you, or you've turned a serious, philosophically-inclined canon with adult themes into a lighthearted slapstick AU universe, you may be asked to change the AU to fit the canon better, or have your application rejected entirely if the mods can't see how the AU could be made acceptable. Keep in mind that canonmates and gamemates in general will be directly affected by your AU, and not everyone may be comfortable with what you've chosen. Signing up your character's canon friends to interact with someone from a world either substantially more horrifying or substantially sillier than their own is not particularly considerate to their existing players, or to any who may app in the future. As a rule of thumb, the more extreme an AU is, the harder it will be for castmates to interact with, and a good AU for the game should not deliberately put castmates off from interacting. Plausibility and interaction dynamics are especially important in AU applications.

An individual player is not allowed to app two versions of the same characters, no matter how distinct the AUs may be.

If you are at all unsure whether an AU concept is suitable or not for the game, visit the Contact page to discuss it with a mod or app team member.
apping from other game canons
"Can I app a character I used to play at another RP and keep their memories of having been there?"

Yes! Singularity considers game-canon RP characters as acceptable AUs. Just include all relevant character development under Setting, Personality, and the AU justification section. It's especially helpful if you can provide links to CR charts, threads and screencaps that help to illustrate how your character has changed.

Characters with CR imported from other games come with a few restrictions:
  • Any game devices (like microchips, collars, curses of gradual insanity, etc.) cease to function while in Singularity, but are not removed either. They might still become active during events.
  • On the other hand, any game-specific accessories, like that game's communicators, animal companions, or other equipment or resources they've accrued, do not accompany them unless carried on their person. These items will be nerfed as necessary upon the chracter’s arrival in Sacrosanct.
  • characters can recognize anyone they had CR with in a previous game, but only provided the other player consents. Players found to be using past CR to corner a different player into filling the same role will be subject to mod action.
  • ICness is still required. While your character no doubt has grown from their time spent in another game, it should not be so dramatic that they aren't recognizable.
Finally, while characters can obtain items and critters from their homeworlds in Zone 00, they can't obtain specific items from other RP worlds. This is still a game, not a pan-RP dressing room.
other guidelines
Players are expected to familiarize themselves with all of the game's information pages (linked at the bottom of each page) before playing. If anything is unclear, use the Contact & FAQ page to answer any questions prior to apping.

Serial apping, character squatting, and other activity issues can result in a warning, a strike, or the boot. Lying on the application in any capacity is grounds for expulsion. The same goes for plagiarism.

After you submit your app, the mods will evaluate it and come back with one of three responses: ACCEPTED, DECLINED, or REVISIONS. Instructions for any necessary revisions will be included in the response.

Apps posted during closed periods will be ignored until the next app round. Likewise, revisions submitted after the 72-hour window do not result in an automatic rejection, but will not be judged until the next round.

to apply
The application is divided into four parts: Player Information, Character Information, OC/AU Justification, and Samples. There is no upper limit on the length of apps.
Player Information
Your Nickname:
OOC Journal: A sock is fine.
Under 18? Singularity does not have an age limit; this is just for reference. Please be honest. Lying about your age is grounds for expulsion from the game.
Email/IM:
Characters Played at Singularity:
Character Information
Name: Personal name - family name, aka Western order.
Name of Canon: If apping an OC, just put "original."
Canon/AU/Other Game CR:
Reference: Links to a wikia page, fansite, scanlations, etc. For obscure characters without a lot of information available, the more references the better. For OCs, a link to any place containing an applicable run-down of their story is helpful.
Canon Point: Please don't just say "end of S4, E26." "Right after he finds out his mother's dead at the end of S4, E26" is much easier to understand for those not canon-familiar.
Setting: Please describe your character's canon setting in a way that would help someone who is not already familiar gain an understanding of the universe. This doesn't mean the plot, but rather the major factors which shape their world and make it [if at all] different from ours. Is it our modern-day Earth with a slight twist? Is it the 22nd century and humans are part of a galactic community? What are the political bodies? Does magic exist? How is it used and by whom? You are encouraged to describe your character's role in the context of this world, so we can get a better perspective of who they are. Are they a normal high school girl? An adviser to a king? The leader of the Autobots? This is especially important for OCs and AUs, so please take all the space you need.

This section should not necessarily be identical for characters from the same canon. Just as one character's highlight episode may not be important to another character's history section, not all details of the universe are equally relevant to all characters who share a universe. Any Star Wars app should at least mention the Force and the Jedi, but they are far more important for Luke Skywalker than they are for Han Solo, and the setting writeup should reflect that. Conversely, details about underworld are important for Han, but not for Luke.

Please be aware: We do not want a plot summary. This is not a history section. If you would like to write a summary and include it in the reference section, please feel free to do so, but it is not required. Applications that go into detail about plot yet do not provide a solid explanation of the universe itself will be sent back for revisions. This is by far the most common reason we request revisions on otherwise good applications; before including plot events in this section, please consider whether they are relevant to an explanation of the setting rather than the story.

A decent rule of thumb for which plot details are necessary for this section is to think about what events in the history of the canon universe brought it to the state it's in at the point in the timeline from which you're taking your character. Those are the pieces of information that help explain the setting. Events which have a significant impact on your character but not on the universe are better covered in the personality section. Events which are not watersheds for the world or your character are better left out entirely.

We request setting rather than history because a plot summary provides little insight into character. Being able to explain the setting and your character's role in it in a coherent fashion demonstrates your understanding of both canon and character.

Personality: Describe your character's personality. This would include their outlook, motivations, general experiences, and anything you feel necessary in order to communicate who they are as a person. Referencing events in their canon to support your interpretation is encouraged, but please don't provide pure summary without analysis.

For characters with little canon information, this section is especially important. Without much canon to fall back on, we need to see that you've thought out the character in a consistent way that's well-supported by whatever information is available. Minor characters almost invariably require extrapolation from pure canon to become fully-realized; this is the section where you should lay out that extrapolation.

Abilities and Weaknesses: Please outline, even if just in list format, your character's skills and/or capabilities, as well as their weaknesses. We would also like to see suggestions for power limitations if applicable. Please see below for details about what this entails.

Notes On Power Limitations: If your character has extraordinary and game-breaking abilities, such as teleportation, time manipulation, magic, telepathy, a gun that blows up planets, or anything that puts them at a significant advantage over every other character in the game, we would like to see your suggestions for power limitations. Singularity does not forbid powers, but we would like players to think of this as the setting for stories. Every character should have their ways of triumphing and every character should have ways of being defeated, even if they were the most powerful individual in their original setting, because we want to create plots and CR that are more than just ‘this guy is the most powerful guy ever and no one can stop him from doing what he wants.’ This goes for heroes as well as villains.

We want to see your suggestions for limitations because you, the player, would know best how to level down a character without making them unrecognizable or unplayable. You are welcome to lock abilities, downgrade overpowered weapons or items, or even AU weaknesses that don’t exist in canon--for example, playing a vampire character who suddenly finds the blood of willing victims far more nourishing than that of the unwilling. Another suggestion would be a ‘shot limit,’ where some ability that used to come naturally to the character in canon suddenly becomes extremely difficult and physically taxing and can only be used so many times a day. For powers like teleportation and telepathy, we have in the past asked players to keep these abilities confined to whatever zone or city the character is currently in.

As a rule of thumb, if your character has any kind of destructive ability that would damage the station significantly, like a hull breach, or kill another character without them being able to stop it, you want to limit that ability. Blowing up buildings is fine, as any involved characters may be able to escape such damage. Instant kills and blowing up entire cities are not fine.

Please note: If your character has any kind of ability that would directly affect another character in a way that can’t be countered, such as a telepath who always knows where everyone is all the time, you the player must always ask OOC permission of the other involved player(s) when your character uses that ability, whether or not that ability is being limited. An example of an ability that can can be countered is super strength, and this would not require OOC permission from other players to use. Mind powers, reading the future, telekinesis, and abilities like time manipulation cannot be countered and thus require OOC permission before they are used in-game.

The mods and app team reserve the right to recommend greater power limitations than what has been suggested by the player when they deem appropriate.

Inventory: There is no real limit to what characters can come in with, but please provide their starting inventory, including any weapons or other devices. Players can always acquire other items from the Junkyard.

As with powers, if your character regularly carries a conventional item of ridiculous destructive capability around (is that a canister of anti-matter in your pocket, or are you just happy to see us?), we ask that it not come through the Rift with them, or that it be damaged or reduced in power.

Appearance: This is most relevant for characters who do not have a canon appearance, or who are altered when brought to Sacrosanct. If using a PB, please provide the name and a link to a photo in addition to a description. Characters without bodies may be given them, or some other kind of mobile platform.
Characters with unconventional appearances, like the tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell or some of the more out-there Transformers designs also benefit from having a visual aid.

Age:
OC/AU Justification
If AU, how is your version different from canon, and how will that come across?
Again, AU versions need to make sense. We don't need a doctoral dissertation, but please take the time to walk us through your AU and how they fit together.
If OC, did you run your character through a Mary Sue litmust test?
Here's one, for reference: http://www.springhole.net/quizzes/marysue.htm
And another: http://www.ponylandpress.com/ms-test.html
And what did you score? There is no hard and fast score for rejection. It's just one factor we'll be looking at in regards to your application as a whole.
Samples
Log Sample: 200 words minimum. The setting can be their transition from their canon setting to Sacrosanct, a purely canon setting, or anything else really, as long as it shows how you will be playing them in the game. If you would like, you can use a sample thread or log in place of a log sample, but please clear it with a mod first.

Please write your sample to focus on your character's thoughts and motivations, rather than as a miniature fanfiction featuring multiple other characters. It's fine if other characters feature, but the majority of the sample should involve insight into your character. We have gotten some very good fic-like samples, but this section isn't just a test of your writing ability; we would like you to demonstrate understanding of the character, as well, sort of the "show" to the personality section's "tell."

Network Sample: Describe your character's first experience using the station's network. It can be text, voice, video, hologram, or game; intentional or accidental. Keep in mind that "the device turned on by itself!" just doesn't happen here.

Name of Canon: Fallout 3
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: Canon
(This Lone Wanderer has been through Operation: Anchorage and the main game.)
Reference: http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Fallout_3
Canon Point: Post Take it Back Quest, after the Lone Wanderer sends Sarah Lyons into the purifier and they both blackout from the sudden radiation spike.
Setting: Post-Apocalyptia as envisioned by 1950s America. Fallout 3 is the perfect example of divergence (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Divergence), where the timelines have split. In the case of Fallout, it was sometime after WWII when our world and theirs went different paths. America hit the 50s running in both times. In FO3, it never stopped. There was no cultural or sexual revolution. China, not the USSR, became our largest threat to democracy. The technology went not the way of the microchip but kept with the tubing and large reel of early technology. By the time the bombs fell in 2077, there were robots for both military and home use, yet computers had not progressed beyond text based interfaces.

As tensions between China and the USA, the world's great and only remaining superpowers, come to a head, the best and brightest in the United States build safeguards against the nuclear bombs. Called Vaults, they are underground, sprawling bomb shelters meant to hold at least a hundred in small vaults, up to thousands in larger vaults. However, these life-saving vaults had a few problems. One, they could only hold a fraction of the populace. Two- they were never meant to save anyone. All of these vaults were experiments of some kind by the government, to see how people would survive in the crazy conditions of the apocalypse. One vault's door was made not to completely shut, so when the bombs fell all inhabitants inside were turned into zombie-like radiation victims called ghouls. Another vault had some of the best and brightest musicians thrown into a vault. They pumped it with a white noise to test unconsciously training human beings and that eventually drove the inhabitants insane.

So on October 21, 2077, China and USA start a war that lasts nine minutes. This is after much tension between natural resources, and even China invading and being rebuffed away from Alaska. rocks Bombs fall everyone dies- except not quite. They're not the bombs of today that decimate everything but the bombs of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thus, they render the world an infertile wasteland thrown into chaos, but at least there are things still alive to be thrown into chaos.

Fallout 3 specifically takes place on the east coast 200 years after this nuclear war, in the Maryland/ D.C./ Virginia region of the U.S.A. The region has been ravaged, with large, rocky outcroppings, no green foliage, and trees like burnt husks. Civilization exists in small outcroppings far apart from each other; the distance between towns often makes traveling dangerous, as the wasteland is filled with mutated animals, lethal amounts of radiation, and lawless raiders waiting to kill a man for the clothes off his back. There is no federal government (except the Enclave, the last remnant and thought to be a legend as their only proof is a radio station that plays the same pre-recorded messages over and over) so law is very much by the gun.

The LW grew up in one of the previously mentioned vaults, Vault 101, whose main prerogative was to see how the vault worked with an absolute ruler and being told that the outside world was entirely decimated.

[identity profile] kidfromthevault.livejournal.com 2010-09-21 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: In Fallout terms, he'd be considered the Last, Best Hope for Humanity- meaning the world sees him as a good person, and in general, the Lone Wanderer is a good person. But he's no saint.

Even though he was born in the wasteland, he grew up in the vaults- when he was forced outside because the Overseer wanted him dead, it was the first time he had ever remembered seeing the sky, seeing the ground. It was the first time he had to fear for his life. It was a startling, eye-opening and downright terrifying experience that changed him, not exactly for the best.

He was raised as the odd man out in an extremely close-knit community, constantly bullied by a group of greaser gang members and only having one friend out of the entire community. A friend who eventually banned him from coming back to the vault even after he saved the entire population of it. To make it even worst, it's also hinted in game that the LW might have a crush on this girl. So yes, his only friend and only crush barely helped him squeak out of the vault, told him good luck as he wandered out into a land that, to her knowledge, was completely uninhabitable, and when he came back alive and well and saved the vault from internal chaos she bans him forever.

People are really, really not his forte, and he's never really had a reason to believe he should get better at dealing with them. He is awkward and blunt, though he means well most times. He might help people, but he's definitely an outsider looking in.

Why does he work for good? Because it feels good. He always considered himself to be absolutely hopeless, and now the Virginia-DC-Maryland area considers him some sort of demi-god because he's willing to go out there and right the wrongs. He's tempted to be like everyone else, of course. Vaultie might have a good moral compass thanks to his patient, big-hearted Father who raised him since birth (as his Mother died shortly after), but the Wasteland is just as mean as the Vault was to him. People very rarely believe in him, even after he delivers. The Brotherhood of Steel, an elite corps dedicated to eliminating the super mutant threat in the area and collecting technology, are condescending until the moment he manages to break an entire team of important scientists out from a large gun fight. Only then- despite the many things he has done for them, like killing A 12 FOOT TALL HULKING GREEN MUTANT- does he get a modicum of respect.

He perseveres for an acceptance that very rarely ever comes. Vaultie is loyal to the ones that show him some sort of compassion, and it keeps going on in his quest to find his Father. The one man to really care for him, even though he abruptly and without warning leaves him and nearly gets Vaultie killed in the process. When his Father James is murdered, he then keeps forging on to bring his Father's dream to fruition. Clean water for everyone. He has a big heart. He might be awkward, he might momentarily get exasperated and give up and 'accidentally' kill a roaming wastelander he happens upon in a moment of madness-

But honestly, he's a good kid.

As stated before, he does have his limits. It might be because of his traumatizing exposure to the world, the extremely harsh world itself, or the fact that the sort of cloaking contraptions in his armor have been known to drive men insane, but he does have a darker side. It's hard not to be in a wasteland where one kills a fellow man on a daily basis. He deals with aggression and anger fairly positively and has a lot of patience, but when it wears thin, he quietly snaps and riddles your body full of bullets and goes on about his day. The kid made fun of when he was little for being a whimp and not being cool enough can only be pushed so far, especially since he knows he has so much power and strength. Power does things to a man.

Setting: The TF2 world is a world that is ruled by two opposing (although people have come to think that they are actually one and the same) companies RED and BLU who secretly control all the governments in the world, except apparently, Austalia. Where Sniper is from. RED and BLU have bases all over, and each base has two teams made up of nine men, who fight each other during working hours, and abide by strict ceasefires out of hours.

Atia is an island ruled by a goddess who gains power from sexual energy, and as such forces the inhabitants to have sex at least once every two weeks, by tightening collars that are placed around their necks on arrival and slowly choking them to death. The only way these collars can be loosened is by having sex with another person. Occasionally, ‘curses’ happen which generally infect the inhabitants in some way or another, whether it be a personality change, an event they have to deal with or something else entirely.

Personality: Sniper is a solitary person, much preferring his own company over that of others. Don’t mistake this for social anxiety, he can function perfectly well around other people, he just simply prefers not to. He is however, extremely shy especially around strangers, and doesn't like being noticed, but this manifests as him being standoffish. For example, he has absolutely no problem spending months on his own in the Australian outback, only to return to civilisation for supplies, and go straight back to the wilderness. He’ll say if asked that he dislikes people as a general rule, and that he tolerates his team mates out of necessity, but in actual fact he does like them, and even occasionally seeks their company. For the most part anyway. He is in particular, friends with RED Engineer and Pyro, and is in a relationship with RED Spy.

Being a solitary person, he’s also a bit of an introvert, although not a complete one. If he has something to say he’ll say it, and he doesn’t mince his words. He says exactly what he means, and while he won’t be purposefully mean, he won’t soften the blow either, especially if he knows you well. If he thinks you’re being an idiot, his exact words will be “You’re being an idiot”. He does get rather creative when insulting the BLUs during war hours, though, and he will carry a conversation with you if you speak to him.

He’s mostly a completely calm person, especially as his line of work makes him patient. Even when he's not calm, he doesn't get excitable, he remains controlled. He’ll crow over headshots and loves being able to throw his Jarate (jar based karate, or more commonly known as urine) over people, especially the BLU Spy, however, because it's a battle thing. For the most part he’s more sedate, and while he’s patient with situations – waiting for something to happen, especially the perfect shot – he is not patient with people if he doesn't want to be, including his own dad. He won’t want you to know but he is a bit of a mother’s boy, and has endless patience for her and if he likes you enough, he'll have endless patience for you too.

When he’s not trying to get headshots on the enemy BLU team, or evade the BLU Spy’s attempts to backstab him, he’ll spend his spare time taking care of his rifle and his huntsman, hunting the odd small game and reading.

He is, in his own words, polite and efficient, although the way he acts is probably contrary to him being as polite as he thinks he is, but you can’t argue that he’s efficient. Despite it all, he’s actually much nicer than he pretends to be, even if he absolutely loves to get one up on any of his enemies.

Since coming to Amat, he’s mellowed out a little. He’s not killed a single person in almost a year although he has been hunting when he’s started to wonder if he’s getting rusty. He has gotten kind of fond of his civilian life, if he’s honest, and has started to enjoy living in an apartment with Spy.

Abilities and Weaknesses: An extremely excellent sniper, has perfect accuracy. Anything outside a 20 feet radius of himself is potentially in trouble. However, he has a very hard time dealing with anyone within a 20 foot radius

<b>Reference:</b> <a href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Prima&gt;Here&lt;/a&gt; for Prima, &lt;a href=" http:="" tfwiki.net="" wiki="">here</a> for the Star Saber, <a href="http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Thirteen_original_Transformers">Here</a> for the Thirteen.
<b>Canon Point:</b> Her death
<b>Setting:</b> Not a lot is <em>actually</em> known about this time, so I can only give you the mythos that surround it as best I can <strong>without</strong> sounding like I am regurgitating the wiki even though I do sound like I am. Prima comes from the very start of the Cybertronian mythos. Prima's Cybertron would have been very different - indeed, it was.
&nbsp;
Cybertron was their creator's body, Primus, and as such, they [Prima and her siblings] were created to crew/defend it. They were also the first of the race. The First Forged, made to crew, and serve Primus, their god. Prima was the very first created, and given domain over Light. Her brothers and sister also gained dominion over aspects that gave them great power. With great power comes great responsibility; For a while, they were content.

This was shattered when Megatronus turned his back on them and his duty in favor of serving another - Unicron, their sworn enemy. Unicron is the god of destruction and chaos and basically Primus' anti-thesis.&nbsp; Before long, the Thirteen found themselves embroiled in a war that would see their ranks shattered as sibling betrayed sibling. All because power corrupts. Some were killed, some outright destroyed. Prima was amongst these loses. However, her legacy lived on - her sword, the star saber, was only shattered into shards. This sword was incredibly powerful - able to snuff out suns and break planets to dust.
&nbsp;
It was hidden via Nexus Prime who was split into five with the quantum edge of the shards and the aid of Vector Prime, and Alpha Trion. The newborn robots then scattered across the multiverse, each to hide a piece of Prima's sword.
&nbsp;
The rest of Thirteen split up soon after, and eventually the Transformers came to be as we know them, A million and one verses, with pretty much the same thing happening in 99% of them: Autobots verse Decepticons.
&nbsp;
Prima will not take sides in any conflict that is presents, for she knows that her time to lead is over. She will advise though, if asked.
&nbsp;

<b>Personality:</b> <strong>{{</strong><span style="font-size: x-small;">Short, because there is so <em><strong>little</strong></em>, and I run the very real risk of turning her into a canon sue</span>.<strong>}}</strong> Prima was first and foremost, a <em>warrior</em>, one of the first born. <i>The</i> First Born. She is shown to have a noble, and courageous voice, if not a commanding presence, or at least, the charisma and gravitas that a leader <i>should</i> have. Going on the other Thirteen for more exploration of this, it can be guessed that she might have had a bit of arrogance,&nbsp; if not ego. Prima would have been an inspirational leader, charismatic and just. She'd have had an intense and incredible loyalty to Primus, her 'father'. Prima may had either close ties to her siblings, or simply working relationships, but it can be assumed that on Megatronus' betrayal she felt that. Betrayal of her trust, faith ect. To turn one's back on one's creator would be unforgivable in her eyes.&nbsp; In ROTF, Prima is shown to be resourceful and cunning, if not a determined mechoid who is willing to sacrifice her own life to put a stop to something that is very, very wrong [according to their laws, it was evil in the highest form to harvest a sun of a planet with intelligent life.] It's also rather unclear which one is her for the most part. I have assumed that she was the one who end up sealing The Fallen.

Re: Prima || Transformers

[identity profile] first-of-13.livejournal.com 2010-09-28 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
There's not a lot else that can be said about her, other than that she'd also have compassion and grace, poise and elegance, along with a short of regal baring that can only come from knowing that you are the first of something. To be arrogant about that would have been drummed out of her at the very start. She is no more or less favored than any other of Primus' creations, she can be a stiff formal bitch at times, and would have, mostly, a non-interference clause, but it's going to be a flexible thing. If she can help, she will, but she will not take the spotlight, unless absolutely necessary. Prima would unlikely get references past her death, so misinterpreting things is a go.  Prima would definitely see those that came after the Thirteen as children, and would probably have patience for them, but it's not infinite, and she can and will lose her temper like anyone else. It would not be a pretty sight.

That being said, Prima will not seek any leadership roles. With her death, she'd know that her time to lead is up. She will still advise if asked.

Abilities and Weaknesses: Prima is the Warrior of Light, wielder of the Star Sabre. For the purpose of this game, Warrior od Light will mean that she has control over most forms of light. She can shape it, cast it , manipulate it to her will to name a few. She is able to make any form of light, provided she knows what it ' feels' like [Basically - how the hell it's made]. For example, if she was to created hardlight, she would have to know what it was like, and that will take time. This applies to all kinds of light.  The most basic will be ambient lighting, and light from the star/s around her new home, and this will be, for a while, her only Light based power.

While she has power over light, it means that she could, thermostatically, plunge the ship into near darkness by exerting her will to dim it as low as it will go. Prima, however, will never abuse these abilities. However, this gift is limited only to Light. It would NOT affect any kind of electronics ect. IE: A lamp could still be on and 100% functioning but limited to no light would come from it if Prima wished it. It's extremely unlikely that Prime will abuse her own power.

Prima's sword will be a simple sword, with a replica of the matrix of leadership embedded on the hilt, and it retained that quantum edge. But, for the most part, it is simply a pretty, incredibly shark, sword.

Prima would be skilled warrior.

Her weakness would be the same as a human. Though her body is strong, and can take a fair amount of damage, she is not indestructible, and falling of a great height could knock her offline, even to the point of systems Blue Screen of Deathing[death]. Her skin has all the functions of a human, thus the need for armore, but even then, she has the same trouble as a knight, though not speed wise. For Prima, the armor is apart of her, but enough damage [Like a bullet or such] can and will pierce it.  Prima also has above average human strength, but it is no where near that of her true form. At most, she will be able to life 100 Kilograms.

Her ability with Light is greatly weakened by her own reluctance to use it, and reveal she is, in fact, an Original. Prima does not want to be worshiped, or looked upon with awe. Though she is the first of her race, she is also humble about it. A major weakness would be the total lack of light of any kind. As long as there is come kind of light that she can see, she can manipulate it. Blinding her in any way [not just with a blindfold, as she can look under that] will null that ability and rend her  - not harmless, but will throw her for a while.

Otherwise, she will be vulnerable to a hack, as long as one can get fast the firewalls, and have all the other vulnerabilities of a robot. She is not waterproof, though will, more than likely, eventually seek out for that sort of upgrade. Maybe.

She also requires food + Energon to keep her form functioning, though she can make do with only food. Due her human bits, she also has a means of eliminating the waste that results from the food. It is minimal, but it has to be dealt with.

She will have one of the bracelets.

Character Information ;
Name: Takeo Tsurumaru
Name of Canon: Narutaru
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: Canon
Reference: Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Star)
Canon Point: Shortly after Hoshimaru (Takeo's dragon) kills Hiroko Kaizuka. This is episode 12 of the anime and volume 8 of the manga.
Setting: Narutaru's universe is more or less the same as ours, and takes place sometime between 2007 and 2009. The big difference is the appearance of Pokemonesque creatures called dragons (also called dragonets, bone dragons, and shadow dragons--nobody really has a clear definition for these things). The creatures link up with certain human beings, thereby sharing feelings, thoughts, and actions with them; after this point, the dragons' growth comes to reflect their owners' personalities, especially the darker aspects. It is hinted in the series that dragonets are aliens who came to Earth to validate the existence of the soul. It is shown that a dragon can merge with a human postmortem to bring him/her back to life (though certain people, like Kaizuka and Takeo, are unable to do this for unknown reasons). It is implied that this human/dragon merging eventually results (or can result) in the birth of a new planet. Takeo is from the Kansai prefecture of Japan, but might originally be from Osaka, though this is only indicated in a vague throwaway line.

Takeo Tsurumaru

[identity profile] tsuru-maru.livejournal.com 2010-10-03 06:50 am (UTC)(link)
Personality: Takeo, at a glance, is extremely easygoing. He treats everyone the same, whether they are his enemy (Sudou) or his best friend (Norio). He is so candid that he seems not to have a filter, which often flusters the females (or Norio) around him, as he will casually discuss sexuality, anatomy, and procreation in clinical detail. He rarely gets worked up or loses his calm. Underneath that exterior, he is a bit of a callous, self-serving jerk. There are few things he considers more important than his own desires, and he very bluntly admits when he is unconcerned about the welfare of another human being.

Therefore, it's a bit jarring when Takeo chooses to actively become involved in the lives of Shiina Tamai, Hiroko Kaizuka, and Sakura Akira. Initially, it would seem that his only interest is in finding out what draws the dragonets to Shiina, but as time wanes on, it becomes more apparent that he is starting to care for the three girls as an older brother would. He probably had the potential for affection to begin with, but did not realize that he did until he came to befriend the three main characters via his dragonet. (It is important to note that he masquerades as his dragon, "Hoshimaru," for most of the series, so much of the canon evidence for his personality comes from instances where Hoshimaru interacts with the girls. It may seem that Tsurumaru is a minor character, but when you take into consideration that "Hoshimaru" is on nearly every single page, it turns out that he has even more appearances than the protagonist!)

In examining Hoshimaru's actions, we see that Takeo takes immediate action when he needs to, that he does not hold much regard for human life. When Hiroko Kaizuka is about to murder Shiina Tamai's father, Takeo, as "Hoshimaru," beats the small girl to the punch line by strangling her to death. Never mind that Kaizuka is one of the three aforementioned girls whose lives Takeo becomes involved in as a protective figure. Later on in the manga, when Shiina begs "Hoshimaru" to abandon a battle with Hainuwele to go save her father's life, Takeo does not heed her cries for help and continues with the battle, which results in Shunji Tamai's death. (To his defense, however, not engaging Hainuwele in combat meant that many more people would have died in Shunji's place, as Hainuwele's owner Bungo was planning a massive attack on a civilian area. Whether or not Takeo knew this at the time isn't exactly clear.) Takeo, as Hoshimaru, actively goes looking for Shiina and Sakura when they're in trouble, like the anime's episode thirteen, where Hoshimaru flies in out of the blue to defend Shiina and her classmates from Oni. Again, this probably began as Takeo's curiosity in Shiina's deep connection to the dragonets, therefore he had to keep her alive to observe her long enough, but evolved to genuine concern.

Takeo is strangely obsessed with procreation. He has sexual intercourse with as many female characters as he can in order to impregnate them, stating that it's a typical male desire to want to spread one's DNA as far across the planet as possible. This seems to hint at an underlying fear that he will exit his life without having left an etch on the world. In the manga, he fathers eight different children within three years. He is somehow able to pay child support for all of them, as well as own his own house (and at 18-20 years of age no less!), but the manga never explains how. Inheritance, maybe?

The young man can be serious when he needs to be, but more often than not, he is stuck semi-permanently in a joking, laid-back frame of mind, and retains this attitude right up to his death. His last words are, jokingly, "I can't get it up." (He went sterile after excessive exposure to radioactive fallout.)

No worries!

Name: RED Scout (real name Eric Hayes)
Name of Canon: Team Fortress 2
Canon/AU/Other Game CR: AU, from [livejournal.com profile] amatomnes
Reference: http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scout
Canon Point: N/A

Setting:

I DID THIS ALREADY FOR BPYRO...

"1968 Earth with a few big twists. Everything is owned by two companies, RED and BLU, and they have mercenaries fight over territory and intel and stuff. Pyro is one of those mercenaries. Most of Earth history before that is probably intact, though, as there are things referencing WWI/WWII et cetera in the game (uh like Medic with his BlKritzkrieg and all his "Heil" lines. Game also contains references to TV shows that did exist during that time)."

Scout is from there too, on the RED team, and is your average internet douchebag troll only IRL and he's paid to kill people over and over and over and over.

THEN HE GOT PORTED TO MAGIC SEX ISLAND BY AMAT

THIS WAS PRETTY AWESOME

except for the times when random TEAMMATES were all NOOOO I DONT WANT TO HAVE SEX because I'M RETARDED and Scout had to go HELP them and be GAY and stuff. He kinda missed his mom too but he's not telling you that.

BUT OTHERWISE PRETTY AWESOME

Personality:

This was when he entered Atia:

"Pretty much every asshole-gamer stereotype rolled into one. He's obnoxious, arrogant, easily excited, hyperactive, ADD, twitchy, incredibly politically incorrect and insensitive, crude and filled with annoying game lingo ("pwned" "ragequit" "crits"), constantly breaking the 4th wall (though in the game, everyone does, e.g. referring to each other by their class names, etc.), whiny and demanding when he wants things (whininess and demandiness exponentially linked to how quickly or not he gets said thing), quick to insult and quick to anger and just as quick to forget about the whole thing as the next shiny thing comes along. He thinks he's the best thing since X-Box and probably the best thing since a long time before that, too, maybe like TV or guns or Zeus, even though all he remembers about Zeus is that he once turned into a goose and fucked a chick or something. But whatever, man, that's still pretty awesome. Not as awesome as himself, though, the strongest, fastest, most hardcore, coolest, most badass guy ever.

So anyway, Scout is a little delusional, and by a little delusional, I mean if confidence were a mental disorder he'd be in a straightjacket in a room with padded walls (probably bouncing off them, too). Though he's the most fragile character there is in the game, he's an offensive class and thinks of himself as a "people hurter" -- which he is most definitely not (or well, not compared to people like SOLDIER and HEAVY), as his only advantage is his amazing speed. He's reckless and childish, not helped by the knowledge that he's been shot, burned, stabbed, smashed, thrown out of buildings, sniped in the face, and all sorts of different kinds of MAIMED AND KILLED and lived (or well, survived) through it. And besides, he sort of HAS to be reckless and childish (and stupid, let's not forget stupid) because he's the one that's always running for his life past sentries and Snipers to capture flags or gather intel and whatnot. But oh yeah, if he hears anybody ELSE whining about being shot, burned, stabbed, smashed, thrown out of buildings, sniped in the face, and all sorts of different kinds of MAIMED AND KILLED? Pussies! QQ cry moar!

[identity profile] kinduvabigdeal.livejournal.com 2010-10-04 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
But yeah, it's pretty clear Scout's got a little obsession. With winning, with being the best, with feeling superior, and generally being the stereotypical manly man. It doesn't help that all the guys around him are bigger and tougher and older and more experienced and ALSO KIND OF BATTLE-CRAZY LIKE HE IS which means he's gotta step up the act a whole hell of a lot to compete. Stuff like fear and pain and worry and FEELINGS aren't things he'll ever readily admit to having (even if he's just been screaming and running or sobbing in a corner SHUT UP IT DIDN'T HAPPEN YOU BETTER NOT TELL NO ONE OR HE'LL KILL YOU, JERKASS) and he'll pretty much mercilessly mock every other guy who does (and by guy he means pussy, except by pussy he doesn't mean GIRLS, 'cause girls are different, they're GIRLS, they're supposed to cry and stuff, they don't count). And y'know that thing about how the loudest assholes are the most insecure? Well... WELL. He's not INSECURE about himself or anything, he's just -- just -- SHUT UP. He's the best, ok!? He's got a REP to protect.

He's a pretty big hypocrite, too, like you couldn't tell that from his obvious overdone show of manliness and badassitude. Like, he'll call people wusses and wimps for being in pain but is the class with least life in the game (or he is when he has his best weapon equipped, that is, and you just KNOW he lugs it around ALL THE TIME) and besides, he'll scream like a girl (OH GOD OH GOD OH MY GOD PAIN PAIN PAIN) if he's hit himself. He thinks he's as smooth and slick and experienced but is as honest as they come, mostly because he can't lie about anything actually IMPORTANT for shit (especially if you threaten it out of him -- just because he can TAKE pain doesn't mean he LIKES it, ok?) and besides, he's totally a virgin too (what, you couldn't tell? SHUT UP, it's not like he's never been ASKED, it's just -- oh god what if he MESSES UP and then she TELLS THE WORLD and then everybody LAUGHS at him and oh fuck you know what? he has this IMPORTANT MEETING TO GO TO BRB -- ps you never heard any of this). He'll trash talk freakin' everybody and insult them bluntly right to their faces, but it's nothing PERSONAL, y'know? He's just talking. And hit on something he actually cares about (his mom, for example) and -- well. WELL, even amazing awesome badasses like him care about SOME stuff too, 'kay? Jesus!

But -- y'know, he's just a dude. An awesome amazing badass dude who grew up in a world where everything is owned by two companies and war and (repeated) death is commonplace, but just a dude. He likes baseball (GO RED SOX!!!) and running and sports and kickin' back with his buddies after STUNNING VICTORIES OVER THE BLU TEAM WHERE HE KICKS SO MUCH ASS -- and then maybe trying to drink with them too but sorta failing 'cause he's a lightweight that gets drunk way too fast and then he babbles about how he likes gettin' letters from his mom and how he misses his dog but not his brothers, those assholes can all go to hell, how the hell do you think he learned to run so fast anyway? and how his teachers all used to say he was pretty smart before he quit school a while back to come here, like not smart-smart like he knew a lot, but real quick on the uptake, y'know? and how when this whole thing is over and they win ('cause they will, of course), he wants to go back and... and... he doesn't know, he kinda likes it here, he feels kinda appreciated and all paid-attention-to not like back home, y'know? and besides he kinda likes you guys --

Oh fuck, is Spy recording this? You fucking asshole! No homo! NO HOMO -- "

... AND NOTHING HAS CHANGED.

......... well okay, a FEW things have changed but they weren't really mentioned up there anyway, more in the AU section below.
