This page is for suggesting plot ideas (either player-driven events or general suggestions) for perusal by the mods. We encourage players to come up with and run their own events, and would be happy to help refine an idea to best suit the game setting and the other players. Don't want to run your own event? This is also the place to suggest general ideas, such as "I think we should have some kind of weather event where it storms for days and knocks out power and people have to work together" etc. For small events that only affect a handful of players, please consider requesting a mission. You want to hunt for ghosts in the empty hospitals? You want to space walk outside the station and fight zombies with a line gun? Tell us there! As for large scale player-driven events...

large-scale action requests

Large-scale actions are player-driven game plots which will affect more than those directly involved in the planning. This can be anything from a bomb going off to a game show. In general, though, we only need to see a request form if an action will harm or threaten the population, including NPCs. Mod approval is needed for these actions so that the mod team can work with players to ensure balance and plausibility with game canon and metaplot. As with everything in Singularity, players can pretty much do what they want, we'd just ask for moderation. Some examples of large scale actions: "I have a neurotoxin which causes temporary amnesia and disorientation I want to release into Kurzweil's vents." "I have already found the Underworld and want to kidnap one of the insurgents to interrogate her." "I want to kidnap Agent Texas and hold her hostage for ransom on the network." "I want to hack into Sacrosanct's confidential records to see if I can find something."

To request a large-scale action, comment with the following: <b>Your Name:</b> <b>Character Name:</b> <b>Character Journal:</b> <b>Nature of the Action:</b> (ie, requesting a business license, major piracy, player plot) <b>Explain in more detail how this will work:</b> (we don't need an essay, but some sort of outline with what you want to do and how you want to do it. <b>When do you expect this action to be carried out?</b> (a date or ballpark is fine. Give some lead time in case the mods need to ask for further details before approval.) <b>Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences?</b> <b>If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character?</b> (ICA = ICC. Even if the end result is "he gets away with it" we still want to know in order to keep track.) <b>Does this involve characters other than your own?</b> <b>If so, have you gotten the other players' permission?</b> (godmoding is NOT allowed. If you don't already have permission from other involved characters' players, you need to get it before putting a plot in motion. Things that might affect an area don't need explicit permission from everyone, but should be designed so that players can opt-out without trouble)

The general rule with large-scale actions, and any other big deal requests, is to provide enough lead time in case the mods need to discuss any of the details with you. We are not in a mindset to outright reject anything; rather, if something doesn't quite work for us, we'd prefer to talk it out, to see if there's not another solution. The mods may also ask you to postpone your plot to avoid scheduling conflicts with other player plots, and event burn-out for the game at large. If your plot is going to require special items, such as finding a fully functional EMP in the Junkyard, please note that in the description here instead of going to the Requests page. We will approve items on this page if they are related to a plot.

Explain in more detail how this will work: Basically, 4th wall event. Most games have them, and I'm a little surprised that Sing hasn't had one yet! I understand that a lot of mods or games have kinda a knee-jerk reaction to them and would rather not, but I think it'd be a great idea to get fresh blood in the game/a chance for people to try out new characters. I'll write more of an IC justification for it if you guys are willing.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? Honestly? Whenever. No hardcore timing necessary.
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Besides Hypatia being like "goddamnit everyone off the station i hate my life" I don't think so? More of a harmless fun event.

Does this involve characters other than your own? Yes.
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? There will probs be a plot post before the event itself starts up, allowing for people to opt out etc etc.

We've actually got a fourth-wall event on the table being discussed at the moment! We don't have a timeline for it yet, but it's definitely in the works.

Explain in more detail how this will work: silly teleporter malfunction. Basically, a body-swap event. While it’s pretty self explanatory ICly, the OOC organization is going to need to be pretty thorough.

How I’ll set it up:

A week before, I’ll make the first post calling on people who want to participate. There will be a little form to fill out and some rules for emphasis (no killing a character in a different body without the permission of the body’s mun, don’t do creepy shit, etc etc). About three days before the event, I’ll do a second post with the matches—which will be done by a randomized whateverthing (basically, me assigning everyone a number, using, like, random.org or something to put numbers together). It’s going up so long before the event so that muns who really object to who they’ve been paired with can work things out. It seems like this event would have a high chance of wankery and bullshit, which is why these posts need to go up so early. Also OOC contact would be preferred, but the event can happen without it.

When do you expect this action to be carried out? I’d like to swap my mafia event for this. I’d still like to do the mafia event, BUUUUT it ends up, my friend is coming to visit me in Freiburg during it, and I’d need more time and energy to organize that shit. So bump mafia into July, and let me do this in June.

Nature of the Action: Small scale Marker construction.
Explain in more detail how this will work: The idea is that the Joker will disguise himself as Jack Napier and work with Thane as a self-assumed psychiatrist. After several sessions and through heavy medications of questionable content, Thane will be convinced to construct a Marker as a means to "curing" himself of his own insanity. However, naturally, the results will not be as expected. Thane will try to request for Hypatia to seal off the zone that will end up "infected" and insist people flee from the zone. From here, it will cause a mini-Dead Space event in a selected zone until Thane works to destroy it. This may or may not include party members, it really depends on who desires to be involved.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? No earlier than late July.
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Most likely.
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? Ultimately, Thane will no doubt pay for the action on his own terms. Destroying the Marker will help him, but I intend to put him into a brief coma after all is said and done.
Does this involve characters other than your own? The Joker

Nature of the Action: Shutting down Hypatia.

Explain in more detail how this will work:
Shepard will gather one or (more likely) several teams in secret, brief them, arm them, and then mount a surprise assault on Hypatia and the maintenance ring of the station. The specific tactics will have to be arranged IC by the final group of characters who intend to carry out or be directly involved in carrying out the action, but it will go something along the lines of:

Find transport to the maintenance ring of the station.
Dramatic speech.
Infiltrate that ring like it's a geth dreadnought.
Shoot everything that gets in the way.
Shoot everything that looks important/related.
Deactivate Hypatia's main interface and backups. (Ideally, this should be accomplished without buggering everything else.)
Inevitably bugger everything else.
Escape. (Probably before some large explosions of some kind.)
????
Profit.

When do you expect this action to be carried out?
Ultimately, it will have to take place after the next trip to the planet. Shepard won't risk gathering a team, forming a solid plan, or disseminating any detailed intel until she's certain they're out of Hypatia's mechanical earshot. While they have the firepower, this is still going to be a military strike against an unknown quantity and there are far too many unaccounted for variables already. After a trip to the planet, the speed with which this plan is put into action will rely mostly on how quickly they can secure transport (of the variety that can't be easily destroyed by Hypatia) and square away any additional aspects of the mission. (Guns, medical, civilian prep, etc.)

In an OOC sense, it would be nice to do it as soon as possible. Perhaps late August? But I would not object to a longer timetable if everyone is on board but needs more time for shenanigans before we do this.

Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Oh, most certainly. If this isn't illegal or likely to result in negative consequences, I can't think of what would be.

If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? Mission specific casualties and injuries are completely open for discussion. For Shepard, in particular, I will accept a wide array of personal injury, disfigurement, or what-have-you. If/When Hypatia turns herself back on, any additional consequences would be acceptable.

Does this involve characters other than your own? Yes. All of them, in fact.

If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? Specifically, no. However, after completing this submission I intend to write up and post an OOC post to the comm. I debated whether writing this first or that first would be most appropriate but I think both, in tandem, would be ideal. Unfortunately, suggesting game-wide-plots like this isn't a simple matter, but I don't want to seem like I'm trying to circumvent either the other players or the mods in the process. If there's a real objection to this plot, in either forum, I more than understand.
