This is an all-purpose page for requesting the most common things you'd need mod permission for. In general, characters in Singularity enjoy broad freedoms with what they can do and acquire; it's only high-risk, rare and/or questionable items that will need to be cleared in advance. Don't worry-- almost all requests will have no problem whatsoever being approved, and if we have some concerns, we're much more likely to discuss it with you than reject anything. This is also the page to request canon updates for your characters.

Characters can obtain raw materials from the Junkyard, aka Zone 00, the string room where they appeared when first arriving on Sacrosanct. Scrap metal, raw elements, structures and devices can all be found here. Most of these materials, like metals and normal devices (music players, carpentry tools, computer hardware) do not need to be requested here; just assume your character found them. If it's something more advanced or dangerous, we'd appreciate it if you erred on the side of caution and checked it with us first. Some items you might find in the Junkyard that you can request (not an exhaustive list): Guns Advanced computer equipment Dangerous and/or fictional elements Alien technology Premodern technology Small dinosaurs In general, living creatures are okay so long as they aren't pests or very large or dangerous. So, no tribbles, sorry.

canon updates

Canon updates work a little differently in Singularity than in other games. Instead of characters "going home" and returning, the IC explanation for canon updates is this: Any character that appears on Sacrosanct is, at the moment before he/she/it comes through the space/time rift, understood to be at the most updated version of their canon. This is a floating state for those characters with unfinished canons. The rift is responsible for concealing memories and even changing the physical forms of those who pass through it. For example, a character who loses their hand and has it replaced by a chainsaw may appear in Sacrosanct with their flesh hand fully intact and no memory of the chainsaw. However, because the rift interacts with the teleporters on the station (there is, in fact, a teleporter just inside the rift itself that seems to still be connected to the rest of the network, but cannot be physically accessed), any time a character uses a teleporter he/she/it runs the "risk" of being canon updated. Memories may appear and even physical changes may occur. So our example character might walk into one teleporter with his hand and out another teleporter with his chainsaw, suddenly remembering the events that led up to it. How exactly is this possible? Hypatia isn't quite sure and likes to pretend things that are beyond her ability to predict don't exist, and the rift itself doesn't answer questions. Some players may wish to canon update their characters with new items or equipment. If the item in question is larger than would feasibly fit inside a regular teleportation unit (which is meant to accommodate one or two people at a time), the character being updated will find themselves spat out from a teleporter nearest the Junkyard, and their item will be waiting for them there if the character chooses to go look. Please note that characters are welcome to request items without requiring a canon update. For example, if you want to request Kevin Flynn's lightcycle for Sam instead of his substandard Grid lightcycle, but don't want to update Sam to that particular part of the movie, the Kevin Flynn lightcycle can be requested as a simple item request without a canon update. In that scenario, however, the piece of equipment in question may or may not be unfamiliar to the character, and that must be reflected in their actions accordingly.

Will they have a brand spanking new set of armor? Mods may also request that 'new' abilities or equipment be subject to power constraints. If character X had a gun that could explode a planet when he first arrived, and that gun was de-powered, and his canon in Ch. 5236 gives him a new gun that can explode TWO planets, guess what is going to get de-powered if he brings it) <b>Any Large Items?:</b> (ie, anything that would have to come from the Junkyard. Please also give an explanation of what the item is and what it can do. Mods reserve the right to refuse certain items or ask that they be de-powered.)

Some players employ the teleporters to temporarily change their character, whether to another species, sex, or into another person’s body entirely. For the most part, you are free to do this without requiring mod permission; however, if the modification you’re planning on is more complicated or involves more than immediate CR, please drop it here to let us look it over.

Nature of Item: His 'boomerang' trident from canon, that Betee made him. It's pretty much a three-pronged trident worn with a bracelet that can recall it so that he doesn't have to go get it every time.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: It's his weapon of choice, at home he uses it for fishing. It's just kind of a character prop, and he wants to have it with him.

Nature of Item: Not actually an item, but Skyfire was trying to repair the teleporter he destroyed in order to call Semley out, to his own ends. He's been trying to figure out the glitch that makes people swap species etc. I'd like him to unlock the bit of coding and be able to modify it to turn a human into a cybertronian and likewise on command.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Skyfire wants to be able to have his old body back, but naturally there are responsibilities (like the hostel) that require him to be human. He wants to be able to swap back and fourth. HOWEVER this in the end would be extremely damaging to his spark in large doses, so it will end up having to be EXTREMELY limited and moderated (too many swaps in a short amount of time would kill him) and forcing it would likely be painful and not pleasant at all, which would discourage abuse of it.

EDIT: As a note, it would likely be a line of coding, so he wouldn't be breaking one whole teleporter for this. More like entering a console-command. So we wouldn't have a rash of robot-people.

How Your Character is Obtaining It: She'll find the slightly broken and defunct Jadebot in the Junkyard (having fallen through the Rift from home) and fix it up for her purposes in her lab.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: BASICALLY, it's a machine that Jade uses to do things while she's asleep (which she does. a lot). Here in Sacrosanct it won't actually be able to move -- she's not going to let it wander around the zones because someone karkat will kill it, probably. But it WILL be able to answer network messages almost like a scary answering machine, as well as do something it couldn't do before: she's going to make it able to do some of her physics research for her. It won't move out of the lab, though. It's purely for science and when she needs to take a nap.

Fenris won't be able to speak, or interact intelligently with others for a time, and is limited to the FENRIS' baser programming. The only on-board "weapon" he'll have is a taser like discharge mounted in the head of the mech.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: There is some speculation that Molly's ability is actually telekinesis rather than super strength, due to a number of factors (psychic aura, telepathic parents, nosebleeds, glowing eyes). For the age changing event I'd like to age her up to her mid-twenties as an X-Man, with access to her full telekinetic abilities. They'll disappear at the end of the event since, according to my headcanon, there's a psychic block on her abilities caused by her parents using their telepathy on her since she was a baby.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: It heals Eve when she eats it and can heal other people if they eat it (with permission, duh). I'm not talking regrowing an arm but it can stabilize fatal injuries and heal cuts and shit. Eve is kind of stingy with her items anyway but one-a-day use makes sense.

Nature of Item: A single bottle of Shattered Glass scraplets.
How Your Character is Obtaining It: Poking about the Junkyard.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Partly to just show another difference and make his fellow cybertronians freak out about scraplets. The Shattered Glass type of scraplets heals "living metal" by eating "dead" metal, aka, it'll heal a cybertronian (and maybe other robots). Could be good for emergency injuries, but they're also useful against robot/cybertronian zombies since those are all dead metal, so it could be a extra avenue to get rid of some of the dark energon zombies.
(Since the scraplets die from water, any scraplets out of the bottle would soon disappear, so the only place they'd remain would be in the bottle.)

How Will This Change the Character?: Thor won't have any new abilities, but he'll sure as hell come with a brand spanking new package of 'hey I actually know my teammates' as well as 'my brother over there is kind of an untrustworthy douche who is currently taking over the Earth' attitude that vastly differs from his current 'well maybe I can fix this' approach to dealing with Loki.

Also now he has a small dagger from where Loki lovingly stabbed him while telling him he's being overly sentimental.
Any Large Items?: no new items except for the dagger!

Reference Point of the Canon Update: after natasha knocks him out at the end of act ii of the avengers
How Will This Change the Character?:
- first, a little historical context. before, clint was taken from his time in the thor movie. a year has passed since then, and we can presume that clint has spent his time as usual at shield in the interim. however, his latest mission, to guard dr. selvig, goes wrong, and clint ends up being possessed by loki for what seems to be a few days, and up to a couple of weeks. at this canon point, he has nearly brought the shield hellicarrier down, but the black widow manages to fight him back and knock him out, effectively removing the mind control.
- the most important thing about clint coming out of this canon move is how he views himself. whereas before he was a dedicated agent who preferred to keep most things at a distance, now he harbors a lot of guilt and a burning desire to make up for what he's done. in the context of the movie, he gets a chance at that redemption, but i'm a horrible person so i'm pulling him back before that. therefore, he's going to have to work through his emotional issues while on the station.

Any Large Items?: his bow and quiver are a bit more badass than the ones he used in thor; so if it's possible i'd like him to bring those along when he returns.
