MOD ANNOUNCEMENT + DISCUSSION

Hey kids, Vic here. As you've probably noticed, the game has slowed significantly and the overall metaplot is sadly lacking in progression. We regret to say this has been from mods simply not having the time or drive to, well, mod. It's not always a fun job, and sometimes people lose steam. Personally I'll be going back to school and working full time in just a couple short weeks and simply won't have time, and the other mods are in similar boats.

What we're asking you, the players, is this: Should we roll out the End Game plot, or is anyone out there willing to take up the reins? We'd need several individuals (around three) willing to dedicate time to run the game and keep things flowing. We'd provide setting and plot information as required to get the ball rolling, and several of us are willing to keep piloting key NPCs, but ultimately you would have the reins of the game.

So. Thoughts?

I know I joined the game relatively recently, but I want to chime in. My first instinct was to jump in and offer help, any help, as a mod or admin assistant. And that offer stands as of this comment being posted.

But I know Sing has been around for a while, and it could make sense to roll out the end game plot and give the game an ending with a bang instead of slowly dying. I guess I'm more wondering what the thoughts of the other players are since, in my opinion, I can go both ways.

If it means anything, though, I'd rather see the game close happily. So I guess that's where I lean.

EDIT:

Adding.

Having had (jesus really) twenty minutes to think about it, I'm definitely willing to mod the game. If nothing else, the endplot could be rolled out later, and Hiku's plot adapted for the mod change (ie introduce new characters).

But, it seems like more people are leaning towards just rolling up, and I still think that's a good idea.

I'd rather see the game go out with a bang than a whimper. Sounds like it might be time for the end game plot- maybe I'm just a pessimist but I'm not so sure of the game's chances of recovery even with new mods.

Chiming in real quick. I'd offer help but fulltime school + on-call work + looking for a job that makes me want to kill less probably doesn't make for good mod material. Did my stint on the app team and that was as far as I ever wanted to go. I'd suggest maybe looking to see if any of the current App Team want a promotion + player base, but that's all I've got for advice as far as the possibility of continuing the game goes.

The idea of using Hiku's plot as the end game is appealing, but I'm also curious to see where it could go from there, and I do enjoy this game and the CR I've amassed.

I'm good with anything, is basically what I am saying here. I am the pimpmaster hustledaddy of rolling with the punches.

I'd rather see an interesting, involved endgame than watch the game go into metaphorical syndication and eventually just...die off. Didn't we have a good run? Fun times? Let's go out on a high note!

I don't really want to see the game die personally, and I'd be willing to try to help... However, I have no modding experience whatsoever, and I'm honestly not sure I'd be suited to modding. The most I could really see myself is being some form of helper mod. I don't mind the "boring" work like list maintenance.

I like the game and don't want to see it die, to be honest.

I assume this is going to be up for a little time before a final decision is made, so if I think of anything else, I'll reply with it.

However, if it must be endgame, let's go out with a bang. :)

I gotta agree, with the wanting the game to go out with a bang rather than a whimper. I don't think I have the current drive to really last as a moderator, esp. with classes coming up and looking for another job.

I freaking love Sing, I have had a *blast*. This and the M.S. Elegante have been the funnest RP games I've ever been in, and you people are amazing. I'll roll with whatever is decided, End Game or reins-passing. Love y'all.

I'm in the same boat as most other people. I'd like to see this game go out with a bang if that is the case, but if people want to take up the reins, I'd be interested to see where it goes.

I'd rather not see the game die, I love it to bits and some of my favorite RP moments have come from here. I would offer my assistance, but I'm not good with anything but organization, since I have trouble telling people no.

Sooooo basically, if the game must die then end game plot would be best. If it's able to pass reins then great an I'll be sure to stick around.

I'm in the same boat as a few other people here on the post: I would prefer the game to go out with a bang (i.e. Hiku's take down Hypatia plot as the endgame) than to continue to bleed out slowly.

That said, I do dig the idea of this leading to a new game/new setting/idk where the characters have to deal with the consequences of their actions on Asphodel or something similar. The only problem with this is the possibility that the 'new' game would have the same problems sing is having now.

Unfortunately, I'm not willing to take up the reins myself and don't want to pressure anyone to do so if they don't want to. <3

I don't really want to advocate one of my favorite games ending, since I've had some amazing rp moments here, but honestly I'd rather it go out in a spectacular explosion than just peter off slowly the way it's been doing lately.

If there are people willing to take up the mod reigns I'd definitely be up for more playing! But personally I know I'm not mod material and I don't know how many of the other players have the time/experience to mod a game, so I don't think we should count on new people stepping up if that makes any sense.

spoilers: none of this probably makes any sense i'm running without caffeine right now

Like others have said, I'd really like to see the game go out with a bang instead of a whimper, and if more players want to end things up then I think that's the way to go. That said, if people want to stick around, I'd be happy to toss in hat into the ring for modding - like Tai said, we're at a good juncture plotwise that that we could switch things up both IC and OOC.

So - willing to help out to keep it going, but if people want to tie things off that's fine. I also like the idea of a spin-off set after the Hypatia plot/engame, if people are interested in that?

If people are willing to step up as mods I'd love to see it. Modding is just not in the cards for me, though. Sing has my favorite setting ever for a game and I'd hate to see it go away forever, so I'd love a "sequel" type game if this is the end.

(Though I have to say as currently being the oldest character in the game, it would be really awesome if Delta ended up running the station as a benevolent master after we take down Hypatia as discussed in Hiku's original plot post.)

I'm in the "would rather see it go out with a bang than a whimper" camp, too, but if people want to take up the modding reins I'd love to see that happen. I've modded in moderate to large-sized games before and I know I definitely don't have time for it, but if others want to mod I'd stick around.

I would like to see Hiku's plot rolled out either way -- even if some new mods take over, I think the game needs a big shakeup anyway. I think it'd be interesting to see the game continue in the aftermath of that plot.

eta: derrrr i had the endgame and hiku's plot mixed up sorry it's 8am and i just woke up 8D

Jayde here. Pretty much echoing the sentiments of everyone else. I've been here for about two years, which is longer than I've ever been at a game. I'd love for it to stay open because it feels like home. That said, I'm not cut out for modding, and it's been really sad for me to see how the game has been going in the last couple months.

I'll definitely stay if we can get a new mod team, but if not, I'd rather the game go out with a bang than quietly languishing and dying out.

If it helps with people deciding one way or another, I'd be willing to stay on as admin mod for an AC cycle or two to smooth the transition. There are a couple of places where I think the workload could be rearranged to make it easier behind the scenes, but some of them involve sweeping changes on the player-facing side oh god stop me before I jargon again.

Anyway. FWIW, I think having the old mods running NPCs without any administrator duties would substantially decrease the risk of burnout for new mods. I only agreed to be a mod when the others promised I would never have to touch plot, because playing + playing NPCs + writing/running plot + apps + admin is a ridiculous amount of stuff, and I just don't have it in me. So spreading out the load would be immensely helpful.

I can expand on this for any potential new mods. It wouldn't have to be private, because I don't actually know any of the deep plot. It's more about the theory and practice of running a game.

I've never modded before, but I love this game to bits. More than that, I love this cast to bits, and losing all of them would be a hardship more than the game. I would be willing to help it going any way I can, and even though I have no mod experience, I have a ton of ideas for what direction this game could go floating around in my head. And maybe all it needs is some fresh ideas?

I would rather roll out the endgame than have the game simply die, but my ultimate preference is that people take over and keep it going.

Don't die, Sing :'(

I have experience modding several games in the past, and personally I think that Sing has a ton of potential that hasn't even been touched on yet. I have work and school, but I also tend to have down time and am as close to jacked in to the internet 24/7 as a person can be.

So I'd be willing to throw my hat in to lend a hand with modding. I've been in the game well over a year, and I'd love to see it keep going, whether it be in this form or in the new form suggested above. I don't think this is a case of a setting being a dead horse, considering there is a lot of ~mystery~ about the station and asphodel that have yet to be cracked, and I'd be genuinely excited to help the game blossom once again.

I think using the upcoming plot event as a transition into both a different IC climate and a different OOC one is likely to invigorate the game a little; my gut reaction is to push for not declaring this the endgame, since I've only just started playing here and have the impression that there's a lot more new blood that would also be sad to see Sing go away this soon. This has been my first foray into journal/comm RP, and I've really enjoyed the experience so far!

That said, just based on skimming through comments, I feel like there's definitely enough momentum building here that we sort of at least owe giving it a shot to keep moving things along. I have a bit of modding experience from other games in the distant past, but I'm not entirely willing to throw my hat in to mod just yet, since I want to sit on things and see how this develops before committing. In general, I've been better with backend work than plot-spinning.

Personally, six of one and half dozen of the other. I don't really prefer it being SUDDENLY ENDGAME or if the game continues.

I'm willing to take the lead on modding in terms of applications (voting, maintaining reserves/taken/maybe AC). I have experience in Sing as an app mod, but am too busy to coordinate plot unfortunately.

/flail.

Just got back from Europe yesterday and my laptop is broken, so I'm unfortunately a little hit-and-miss right now, but I love singularity and would be devastated to see it go.

I really like the idea of an end plot leading into a new, similar/related game (even still called singularity, featuring the same characters). It would be a nice send off to the hardworking MODs we have right now and would allow the new MODs to start a story of their own, which would be awesome.

That said, if it's end game shut down with no continuation/new game/etc OR keep going, I'd rather keep going. I love the people here, I like the feeling/atmosphere, I enjoy the setting, and I'd be really disappointed to see it drop off.

For my own part, I apologize for being absent and slow. I wish I had more time to invest, but I understand that I'm part of the problem here to some extent.

Hey there, potential applicant who has an app written and ready to roll for the next cycle here. Any idea at all what's going to go down? I'd rather not app into a game that's closing up shop anytime soon.

It's probably not terribly kosher of me to post, since I'm not a member and never have been, but I figure an up-front "hey, what's up?" is better than the alternative of silently lurking or just slinking off.

Even if you don't have a definitive answer, I figured a poke was in order with apps opening tomorrow. There's two of us eyeing the game who've never been here before.
