This is an all-purpose page for requesting the most common things you'd need mod permission for. In general, characters in Singularity enjoy broad freedoms with what they can do and acquire; it's only high-risk, rare and/or questionable items that will need to be cleared in advance. Don't worry-- almost all requests will have no problem whatsoever being approved, and if we have some concerns, we're much more likely to discuss it with you than reject anything.

This is also the page to request canon updates for your characters.

Characters can obtain raw materials from the Junkyard, aka Zone 00, the string room where they appeared when first arriving on Sacrosanct. Scrap metal, raw elements, structures and devices can all be found here. Most of these materials, like metals and normal devices (music players, carpentry tools, computer hardware) do not need to be requested here; just assume your character found them. If it's something more advanced or dangerous, we'd appreciate it if you erred on the side of caution and checked it with us first.

The Underworld is a nomadic black market and insurgency group which continually changes locations in the tunnels of Asphodel. This is the place to find all the illicit things you aren't likely to find in the sterile environment of the orbital. These include everything from harmless but illegal program mods to stimulants, hardcore drugs, experimental body modifications and prostitution.

Characters looking to augment their bodies or find illicit space-aged substances can find them here. Of course, keep in mind two things: everything comes at a price, and not everything can be smuggled back onto the station.

canon updates

Canon updates are going to work a little differently in Singularity than in other games. Instead of characters "going home" and returning, the IC explanation for canon updates is this:

Any character that appears on Sacrosanct is, at the moment BEFORE he/she/it comes through the space/time rift, understood to be at the most updated version of their canon. This is a floating state for those characters with unfinished canons. The rift is responsible for concealing memories and even changing the physical forms of those who pass through it. For example, a character who loses their hand and has it replaced by a chainsaw may appear in Sacrosanct with their flesh hand fully intact and no memory of the chainsaw. However, because the rift interacts with the teleporters on the station (there is, in fact, a teleporter just inside the rift itself that seems to still be connected to the rest of the network, but cannot be physically accessed), any time a character uses a teleporter he/she/it runs the "risk" of being canon updated. Memories may appear and even physical changes may occur. So our example character might walk into one teleporter with his hand and out another teleporter with his chainsaw, suddenly remembering the events that led up to it.

How exactly is this possible? Hypatia isn't quite sure and likes to pretend things that are beyond her ability to predict don't exist, and the rift itself doesn't answer questions.

Some players may wish to canon update their characters with new items or equipment. If the item in question is larger than would feasibly fit inside a regular teleportation unit (which is meant to accommodate one or two people at a time), the character being updated will find themselves spat out from a teleporter nearest the Junkyard, and their item will be waiting for them there if the character chooses to go look.

Please note that characters are welcome to request items without requiring a canon update. For example, if you want to request Kevin Flynn's lightcycle for Sam instead of his substandard Grid lightcycle, but don't want to update Sam to that particular part of the movie, the Kevin Flynn lightcycle can be requested as a simple item request without a canon update. In that scenario, however, the piece of equipment in question may or may not be unfamiliar to the character, and that must be reflected in their actions accordingly.

Nature of Item: Three things. L-LMAO I KNOW SORRY they won't happen all at once, I swear. First is that I would like to have Hypatia's little robotic helpers to move A.M. to semi-permanently live in Garden Zone 12, if possible, since the environment there is something more familiar to A.M. The second is that I would like for A.M. to begin to rebuild his complex, which would probably take up the majority of the Garden Zone. If this size is not suitable, it can be downsized, but the ultimate desire is that A.M. has reconstructed most of his capabilities at some point. The third and final request is for A.M. to attain a separate bionic body that he can upload himself into.
How Your Character is Obtaining It: A.M. will do the reconstruction of his complex himself through material from the junkyard. The move is from Hypatia's little helpers. The body is something I imagine would be purchased?
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: The body is for A.M. to be able to move around and explore in more freely. The move is more because the environment is preferred by A.M. The complex is to re-empower A.M. for an upcoming event I am in the progress of working on.

Your first and third requests are Approved. However, before we can green light your second request we'll need to address an issue with the size of it and get a better idea of the complex you had in mind.

Garden Zones are analogous to a state in terms of size, the idea of a character reformatting the majority of a single zone is unfortunately not possible. We request you limit the complex to a size in the neighborhood of a few city blocks. Also, please provide a more detailed description of his complex, how it will translate into the new environment, how it could impact other characters, and a rough idea of what you have in store with it.

How Your Character is Obtaining It: Pretty much the same way Camille took over her cafe, he's going to march on in and say "I'm runnin' this place now, see?" like your typical mobster and then go about making the necessary changes to make the place more like his jazz club back in Nieve. And he's booting out the drone bartender so he can pour himself. He'll be spending a decent amount of time rearranging and redecorating the place while I'm on my hiatus-ish thing for a week.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: A place for people to get a drink poured by someone with a pulse. Ladon isn't the friendliest or nicest guy, but he can usually tell when someone's there to drink and commiserate or just to drink. He also plans to run a tab for the newbies who need some liquid courage to deal with their new situation, but don't have the credits available to drink elsewhere-- they can pay him after they've adjusted and done some jobs.

Reference Point of the Canon Update: End of Chapter 15 (Tempest), after being targeted by an EMP.
How Will This Change the Character?: As mentioned above, he will come back after being employed into a government experiment followed by a close shave with an EM pulse -- much thanks to his buddy, Oran.
Raimi will return after being stuffed in a fridge -- weak and stumbling, a little brain-scrambled (though that's nothing new), but not overly bloodied and beaten. He's also been suffering frequent chills and has been feeling feverish as of late.
Other than that? No new armor, no new swag... just some "spanking" new memories. Also, he's just recently met one of the four figures from his dreams, an Iraqi by the name of Oran Bajir, which throws him in for a loop. Because oh, hey, he's feeling more inclined to help people right now.
Personality-wise, he's still a bit of an asshole, but now marginally less so now that he's not quite feeling like a purposeless piece of waste. Got to love those self-deprecating types. However, he's also coming back after being like "I'm going to die", so that's also going to raise a few questions for him in regards to his own survival. Spoilers: He's not really dead. But hey, he doesn't know that.

How Your Character is Obtaining It: The A.I. is going to be written onto a spare ground terminal found in the junkyard with parts from his own braclet and the code from player character Jalen's (

alphaclass) identity disc (http://tron.wikia.com/wiki/Identity_Disc). Alan has also been on the station long enough and is acquainted with coding well enough to go in and tamper one of the station least important websites only superficially.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item and Action: . The AI is there to "run" the ARG that will culminate to player/game event throughout October that will require further ooc comm detail/player communication in said ooc post/mod discussion. Dismantling one of the station's more innocuous network sites for the purpose of promoting a simple ARG that ties into the Grid 3.0. It'll basically just look like a really bad HTML hack job on say, the station's less important sites like a gameFAQs for Everbreath of Fantasy. The event proper is going to get more detail in its own post before October. This is just to get Alan the tools needed to kick it off.

How Will This Change the Character?: IN TERMS OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT:
Alex will both be much more self confidant and also less likely to try to use her actual abilities on anyone. She's more likely to stand up for herself and others, and to directly confront people, but understands that her abilities can be extremely dangerous when used incorrectly.

Ah, addendum;

If for WHATEVER REASON the mods deem her power updates to be too complicated or too powerful or too whatever, I can have them not work in Sacrosanct for whatever reason. Reference Point of the Canon Update: After the End of Act 5.2 Flash
How Will This Change the Character?: This is at the very end of Dave's time loops, after his temporary death and subsequent resurrection(s)! This will have two major effects, one on background/personality (mild) and one on powers:

1) Background/Personality

When I first apped Dave into Sing, he was nearing the end of his black suit timeline. This is phenomenally early on, probably in the first three or so of somewhere around twelve time loops. At the point I'd be taking him, he has finished twelve full loops and learned essentially everything in the story up until the End of Act (the new canon point).

Personality-wise, there are several (minor) changes. He's still the same old Dave we know and love. That said, having made it through the death of his bro (permanent and canon, this time), and having stuck with his friends through the day from hell, it certainly seems like Dave's starting to grow up (if only by a bit). He's more open in his opposition to Rose's "suicide mission," slightly less fixated on irony (partially due to the loss of his brother - he doesn't have a pedestal to try and climb on anymore), and if anything a little more dutiful. Having immersed himself in the intricacies of time, he's began to grow more patient; when the time calls for it, he can wait or even take no action.

In the course of said suicide mission, Dave ends up losing a second life - this one on his Dersian Quest Bed. As a result, he ascends to God Tier, literally becoming a human embodiment of a time god.

2) God Tier

As a newly-ascended God of Time, Dave's got a couple of interesting changes. First off comes the immortality: more specifically, unless he's justly killed or dies a heroic death, every time he dies he'll just come back an hour or so later in a shower of rainbows and blood. This really isn't particularly a huge deal on Sacrosanct, save for the retention of memories and death - and even then, he's pulled enough shit on the station that he could probably be offed for good by Vriska.

Second comes flight. Namely, as with the other god-kids, Dave is capable of it. He doesn't grow flashy wings or anything like Vriska - he just floats around, much like John's already shown himself to. If this needs nerfing, I'd be more than willing to talk things out (a maximum height or something?), but it's less for powergaming reasons and more "holy shit this is cool."

Finally, his time powers have basically gone into overdrive. He doesn't need the timetables to manipulate time (although he'll probably keep them around for the irony factor) - any restrictions placed on his tables would obviously apply to him as well. A couple of new abilities, as performed already by Aradia (the other god of time so far), would allow him to modify the passage of time for other individuals as well. This would need to be heavily nerfed; he can only freeze time for someone while he's actively concentrating on the individual and doing nothing else, so adding in a short time limit there seems balanced enough. It's never been clarified yet whether he can reverse or speed up time for other individuals, though, and to keep up the balance I'm just going to say he'd be flat out unable to do it on Sacrosanct.

An additional request: although this may sound stupid, if this goes through I'd request that Dave keep his current mutations (horn, gills, mostly developed amphibious breathing system, and fins). It holds a certain meaning to him at this point, and in addition I think it's really fun to play around with. ~~Also I have like fifteen icons of mutant Dave and I am loathe to relinquish them.~~ I've already run this by Nie, but obviously full approval would be required.

Any Large Items?: The only two items that have changed are his "legendary piece of shit" sword, having since been upgraded to what amounts to half a copy of Caledfwlch / Excalibur, and his baseball shirt, having been replaced with a~~n incredibly stupid~~ SWEET GOD-HOODIE AND PAJAMA SET (http://i.imgur.com/kdatV.png).

HERPDERP. I'm in no rush to update him; if there's any preferred time limit for this, since it's a new update, I'm more than willing to wait. This is more to express that I'd like to update him to this point, rather than an immediate need to do so. :B Even if it gets approved, I'll likely wait a bit for a few other people!

SPOILERS FOR THE END OF ACT OF HOMESTUCK

How Will This Change the Character?:
Personality: Jade's self-esteem has really taken a beating from constant berating due to Vriska. She's gotten a lot less self-confident while on the station, and this update will prove to her again that she can actually handle things competently. She will be a lot braver and also hold a lot of new information about her castmates and the world at large that she comes from.

Also she now has dog ears, thanks to a merger with her dream self.

New Powers: Remember Jade, the only kid in Homestuck who couldn't do anything related to her name, the Witch of Space? NOT ANY MORE. Unlike the other recent God Tier attainments, she actually has set powers that are visible within the End of Act immediately, and she now knows how to use them to their full extent. Jade's powers can be split up into two large categories (space manipulation and teleportation), as well as a section that is reserved for any Hero of Sburb.

Space Manipulation
Jade can now manipulate any item existing in space, or the physical plane of reality. Of course, this is too large to bring to Sacrosanct, as in canon she can now shrink entire planets to the size of styrofoam balls. I am proposing a sliding scale based on the size of the object for how long and how powerful her shrinking and enlarging actually is.

Any item larger than a three-story building: Cannot be shrunk/enlarged. This includes space stations.

Items from three-story buildings to infinitesimal size: can be shrunk or enlarged. Things that are extremely large (buildings, large boulders, ships, etc) can only be shrunk/enlarged for a period of around five minutes. This time goes up based on the size of the object, to where a human would be approximately thirty minutes, and a pebble would be about an hour. Nothing can get so small that it simply disappears, and nothing can be large enough to destroy the largest buildings on the station or touch the ceiling. Large scale shrinking or enlarging works for a shorter period of time than simply raising/shrinking something gradually; a building would stay the size of a pencil for two minutes, while a human would stay ten feet tall for fifteen.

Jade can also manipulate her own height, though it works on the same scale as a normal human being. Any manipulation of player characters will be cleared with the other player expressly before anything ever happens.

In addition, like John with his windy powers, she can make objects fly. Though anything larger than a three-story building would have to be cleared with the mods and anyone whose property would be destroyed in the attempt. As Jade seems to be an okay driver, but she's only thirteen.

Teleportation

Jade can now also teleport herself and other items from one place to another. This I will just forgo any items larger than a normal human as being unable to teleport. Anything human-sized or smaller can be teleported across the zone that Jade is in, including herself. This will be cleared with any players beforehand who own the property/characters in question to ensure that no one ends up where they don't want to be.

Standard God Tier Powers

Along with the special Witch of Space powers that Jade achieves, she also gets two traditional powers granted to any Hero. The first is flight; Jade can now fly when she doesn't have a need to walk. The second is immortality. Now, Jade can only be truly killed if she is killed in a heroic (ie: saving the lives of others) or just (ie: being murdered after murdering tons of people, like Vriska) manner. She will not respawn unless one of those conditions is fulfilled -- in any other case, she will simply POP BACK UP from death and be completely fine, with a clean god hoodie too!

Any Large Items?: 5 really fake models of the 5 really real planets she had with her at home. They will be scale models of Skaia, LOHAC, LOLAR, LOFAF, and LOWAS. BUT DEFINITELY NOT REAL.

Also I cleared this with Brig; she will still have her roboarm upon canon update.
I am completely fine with waiting a few weeks to actually canon update, in case you have any hesitations about allowing her so quickly. But I figured that since she already had defined powers, it would be allowable.

Reference Point of the Canon Update: Post the End of Act 5, also known as "[S] Cascade".
How Will This Change the Character?: John's taken a few good hits on Sacrosanct, partially because he's felt he hasn't been able to help his friends or really protect them. With this update he'll come back with a little more pep in his step, and a lot more responsible. He's faced monsters three times his size and lived to tell the tale. He's also not likely to skirt around issues anymore, having faced things much bigger in scope both metaphorically and literally than himself.

Powers are no new update, just clarification of what we already had. John is able to manipulate wind to the scale of being able to handle several large tornadoes at once. Obviously this is somewhat curbed in Sacrosanct - he can't exactly drill a hole through the station with a giant tornado - but much of his wind manipulation is still intact.

Any Large Items?: John's coming back with what literally amounts to an Infinity Plus One Hammer. While it lacks a name, until it has one, I'll be unofficially calling it the Gambler's Gavel. It appears to be an alchemization of Vriska's Flourite Octet and John's Warhammer of Zillyhoo. It is immensely powerful - in the flash, one strike is all it took for it to render a exceedingly large monster to grist.

Hussie confirmed the name is in fact the Pop-A-Matic Vrillyhoo Hammer So disregard all that other GAMBLER'S GAVEL STUFF. because I am dumb.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Nemvoy may or may not have accidentally designated Barricade as the new quartermaster/bartender to fill a gap (since someone has to watch all the Energon, you know). Barricade is not keeping all those cubes and whatever other random junk he happens to pick up at his/Ratchet's pad. Besides, giant robots need a bar, too.

Given his lack of hacking genius, he'll be manually typing into various consoles around the station over the next week and a half or so to siphon off a little at a time. Also, he figures that Hypatia is watching the goings-on of the residents like a hawk and is banking on her being unconcerned or amused enough to let him keep them.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: SHODAN's real tired of being a bag of flesh ~~And I've run out of interesting things to do with that situation~~ so she'd like to not be that. Note that the body isn't special otherwise, it's just a fairly generic and even rather featureless black and green gynoid body (with TRON lines! and no face! Whee!). No weapons, no special sensors, it's not super strong.

"BUT WHAT DOES THIS MEAN???" you ask. It means... not much, actually. Most of the changes will be in how much she knows/her experiences in the Veil and her interactions with other Homestuck characters is going to change a bit, especially around Dave (who she killed), Vriska (who she also killed), Gamzee (who she threatened to kill), and Karkat (who... she did not kill. Um. Wow.), but there hasn't been much actual personality development going on. She's been through a lot, but she's still pretty much the same justice-loving sense freak, albeit one with far more regrets than than she entered Singularity with.

Any Large Items?: Nope. Just her dragon-headed cane sword and PYRALSPITE, THE BESTEST FRIEND A LARPING ALIEN GIRL COULD EVER HAVE.

Reference Point of the Canon Update: Past the end of Sonic Generations. He's had a birthday, which was crashed by a time-devouring monster called, wait for it, "Time Eater". He meets up with his past self, beats up Time Eater, everything goes back to normal, hooray.

How Will This Change the Character?: Pretty much not at all, besides him having met past versions of himself, Tails and Doctor Eggman. He even commented on how totally standard his adventure was when compared to all the other stuff he's done.

The biggest change is that this pretty much gives Sonic a concrete age, since the game starts with his 20th birthday party. It's incredibly unlikely that this means there was five years between Sonic Colors (his previous canon point) and Generations, but more likely that SEGA just really didn't care enough to let anybody know he was continuously aging up until that point.

Any Large Items?: Just a chili dog and a slice of birthday cake.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item:
While poking around the system, Tony would probably find the system accessible enough to the point he'd be able to credit his account with credits. He'd start with a very small amount as a test, before slowly increasing his balance subtly enough to where it wouldn't catch attention. He's a shrewd enough businessman to do it at a rate that wouldn't be overly suspicious, and he'd be careful enough to cover his tracks.

As part of a later cast-plot, he'd probably subtly deposit at max 20 credits into Thor's (

wouldhavewords, Clint's (

hawkwards) & Bruce's

gammapulsed accounts. While Tony's goal would be just to live in the style he's used to, he'd be coerced into something big enough to fit 5 guys (and a lady or two).

Since we'll be changing how credits work within the next couple of weeks, we are going to ask you to postpone this request. It's perfectly okay for characters to live in high style, even illicitly, and once the new system is in place, an equivalent request should present no problems.

Inventory-wise, there will be no change for Shepard.

Sort of was accidentally playing as if Hawkeye killing Widow had already happened, so it's been referenced a bunch because I SUCK AT KEEPING TRACK OF TIMELINES OH GOD? This is entirely on me and completely my bad, I honestly thought it happened in issue 12 for some reason. WHOOPS.

How Your Character is Obtaining It: Megaman is getting the components out of the junkyard, Doctor Light is building it.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Megaman has asked Dr. Light to build him an adapter much like Forte's Gospel Adapter. The adapter will normally take the form of a (nonsentient!) robot dog, which can transform into a set of armor for Megaman. The armor will form an extra layer of protection, and in addition allow him to fly.

I'd like it if the armor also had 1. a pair of flamethrowers and 2. increased the power of Megaman's Mega Buster, but if that's not ok I can deal.

The unit will have a limited power supply, so Megaman will only be able to fly for about fifteen minutes at a time before having to recharge it.

By the same token, a little later we'd like one for Protoman as well, using a huge bird robot as the base instead. Same powers.

PURPOSE is... solely to show up Forte. Seriously. That's it.

This should be fine so long as the Mega Buster isn't increased to a game-breaking level. Approved.

It'll likely have some psychological ramifications of the negative sort as well. He's not about to turn into Darth Vader, but it'll definitely be at the back of his mind. Pun entirely intended.
