about requests
This is an all-purpose page for requesting the most common things you'd need mod permission for. In general, characters in Singularity enjoy broad freedoms with what they can do and acquire; it's only high-risk, rare and/or questionable items that will need to be cleared in advance. Don't worry-- almost all requests will have no problem whatsoever being approved, and if we have some concerns, we're much more likely to discuss it with you than reject anything.

This is also the page to request canon updates for your characters.
item requests
items from the junkyard
Characters can obtain raw materials from the Junkyard, aka Zone 00, the string room where they appeared when first arriving on Sacrosanct. Scrap metal, raw elements, structures and devices can all be found here. Most of these materials, like metals and normal devices (music players, carpentry tools, computer hardware) do not need to be requested here; just assume your character found them. If it's something more advanced or dangerous, we'd appreciate it if you erred on the side of caution and checked it with us first.

Some items you might find in the Junkyard that you can request (not an exhaustive list):
  • Guns
  • Advanced computer equipment
  • Dangerous and/or fictional elements
  • Alien technology
  • Premodern technology
  • Small dinosaurs
In general, living creatures are okay so long as they aren't pests or very large or dangerous. So, no tribbles, sorry.
items from asphodel
The Underworld is a nomadic black market and insurgency group which continually changes locations in the tunnels of Asphodel. This is the place to find all the illicit things you aren't likely to find in the sterile environment of the orbital. These include everything from harmless but illegal program mods to stimulants, hardcore drugs, experimental body modifications and prostitution.

Characters looking to augment their bodies or find illicit space-aged substances can find them here. Of course, keep in mind two things: everything comes at a price, and not everything can be smuggled back onto the station.

Some items you might find in the Underworld that you can request (again, not exhaustive):
  • Artificial limbs
  • Artificial organs
  • Body armor
  • Pet automatons
  • Drugs
Pornography and small to medium amounts of drugs do not need a request form. Large amounts of drugs meant for dealing, however, will need approval.

To request an item, comment with the form below:
canon updates
Canon updates are going to work a little differently in Singularity than in other games. Instead of characters "going home" and returning, the IC explanation for canon updates is this:

Any character that appears on Sacrosanct is, at the moment BEFORE he/she/it comes through the space/time rift, understood to be at the most updated version of their canon. This is a floating state for those characters with unfinished canons. The rift is responsible for concealing memories and even changing the physical forms of those who pass through it. For example, a character who loses their hand and has it replaced by a chainsaw may appear in Sacrosanct with their flesh hand fully intact and no memory of the chainsaw. However, because the rift interacts with the teleporters on the station (there is, in fact, a teleporter just inside the rift itself that seems to still be connected to the rest of the network, but cannot be physically accessed), any time a character uses a teleporter he/she/it runs the "risk" of being canon updated. Memories may appear and even physical changes may occur. So our example character might walk into one teleporter with his hand and out another teleporter with his chainsaw, suddenly remembering the events that led up to it.

How exactly is this possible? Hypatia isn't quite sure and likes to pretend things that are beyond her ability to predict don't exist, and the rift itself doesn't answer questions.

Some players may wish to canon update their characters with new items or equipment. If the item in question is larger than would feasibly fit inside a regular teleportation unit (which is meant to accommodate one or two people at a time), the character being updated will find themselves spat out from a teleporter nearest the Junkyard, and their item will be waiting for them there if the character chooses to go look.

Please note that characters are welcome to request items without requiring a canon update. For example, if you want to request Kevin Flynn's lightcycle for Sam instead of his substandard Grid lightcycle, but don't want to update Sam to that particular part of the movie, the Kevin Flynn lightcycle can be requested as a simple item request without a canon update. In that scenario, however, the piece of equipment in question may or may not be unfamiliar to the character, and that must be reflected in their actions accordingly.

To request a canon update for your character, comment with the form below:

Welcome to Sacrosanct. Please watch your step:

Your Name: vic
Character Name: 686 Ebullient Prism
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] creepersphere
Nature of the Action: Construction of a relatively small lab facility in the 00 district.
Explain in more detail how this will work: Basically, upon his arrival Prism set about forging himself credits in the system (mod approved). Having reached a sufficient level of funds, he'll begin construction of a small facility (approximately the size of an operating theater) for the analysis of organic material.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? A couple weeks, give or take a few days.
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Yep. Credits were gained illegally, and the main outcome of his facilities completion will be murder in the name of GLORIOUS SCIENCE.
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? Whatever flows naturally from it! He'll be reducing living beings to a fine paste in the name of science, most likely against their will, so if he's caught I'm quite game for folks trying to bring him to justice. If not? He'll just continue on his merry way. Goals for him would be locating resistances to the Flood, and later long term observation of any mutations which may arise in those he's killed as they respawn through the teleporters.
Does this involve characters other than your own? Yes. The whole point is murdering other folks for their bio goo.
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? Players can totally opt out as they wish. Prism won't go lasering anyone I don't have permission from.

How Your Character is Obtaining It: We... don't know if they're even going to OBTAIN them, more like try to catch and tame them for a mode of transportation and probably fail a lot.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: FLYING MOUNTS. Disagreeable ones that they'll probably end up discarding as useless or untameable anyway, but we needed to know whether they could even find them to fail at riding or not, HAHAHA

Your Name: vic
Character Name: Pyramid Head
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] judgments
Nature of the Action: THE SPICE MUST FLOW Taking out the spice markets of Residential Zone 12 ; Herbert, along with... much of the surrounding area.
Explain in more detail how this will work: PH menaced one of T-800's charges. T does not react well to this. Super Saiyan showdown ensues.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? ASAP plox
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Uhm. Yes. Also we would like the air filtration system to get slightly borked in the nuking, resulting in areas of the station reeking of taragon.
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? PYRAMID HEAD AND T-800 WALK INTO A ZONE. THERE WERE NO SURVIVORS. Idk if people get mad at them when they respawn or w/e, it's totes k.
Does this involve characters other than your own? T-800 ([profile] terminatenomore)
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? Ayup.

Your Name: Kilo
Character Name: RED Soldier
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] sgt_crockets
Nature of Item: A litter of kittens. No really, I didn't just leave that there from the example. There would be 5 of them, around 12 weeks old.
How Your Character is Obtaining It: Soldier does recon in the junkyard and happens upon them. Poor things must have fallen in a wormhole or something
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: RED Soldier while in Amatomnes had a litter of kittens which were to be part of the cat army he was intent on amassing. Of course RED Soldier has no memory of these kittens now, but it's just general "WHY ARE THESE KITTENS FOLLOWING ME?!" shenanigans and eventual bothering incoming RED Sniper (who would remember said kittens) about them.

[identity profile] kidfromthevault.livejournal.com 2010-10-08 11:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Your Name: Rama
Character Name: The Lone Wanderer (aka Vaultie)
Character Journal:
Nature of the Action: building himself a house made of junk
Explain in more detail how this will work: FO3 is basically a game filled with characters who build nothing out of something, or husks of nothings into grand elaborate somethings. Vaultie wants a safe home, so he'll look for an abandoned buliding of any kind and just... move in without asking, or he'll build something himself that looks vaguely like his house in Megaton (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/My_Megaton_house) but more than likely all on one floor.

He will get all of his supplies from Zone 00.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? It will probably take at least two weeks if he's converting something abandoned to be safe enough. If not, one month to build something from scratch. He's not exactly concerned about safety hazards.
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Are their zoning laws? Then yes, because he's just going to build it where he wants, securely near a cliff or something. If he's moving into an abandoned building? Yes again, as it won't be his.
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? Well, he'll have his house. If he's in a abandoned building he'll want to see proof first and be so disappoint. If he built it himself he will probably fight someone over it.
Does this involve characters other than your own? Nope, unless he asks people to volunteer!
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? Nope, then again, if this is okayed there will be an ic post of Vaultie asking if anyone wants to help him.

[identity profile] notyourchauffer.livejournal.com 2010-10-11 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Your Name: Jolta
Character Name: Skyfire
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] notyourchauffer
Nature of the Action: An orchestrated hack attempt Sacrosanct's systems.
Explain in more detail how this will work: Generally, Skyfire is gathering the best hackers in the station and planning a hack attempt on the systems. He's generally trying to test the system's ability to defend itself, gain access to any confidential information, and of he can hack some credits out of it, that's fine too.

The general idea is using Cybertronian encrypting to hide his hacks behind several pieces of music (encoded by Soundwave of course), which he'll have his team run through the system, all trying to gain access through different ports at once. Each person has their own way of hacking, as well, so it'll add variety to the attacks. It's basically a general probing. Information, access codes or credits, anything they can get out of this is the goal. In short: A test.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? Within 1-2 weeks of whenever this is approved.
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Depending on the AI's perception of it, yes.
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? I'm really open to anything as far as retaliation from Hypatia is concerned. Skyfire will fight is he has to, but he's by no means infallible. Whatever the system would do to punish him is completely okay with me.
Does this involve characters other than your own? Yes.
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? If this is approved I will put up a plotting post OOC for those involved or anyone who wants to be involved. It's easily opted-out of and will only effect those directly taking part by choice.

[identity profile] tsuru-maru.livejournal.com 2010-10-13 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
Your Name: Karen
Character Name: Takeo Tsurumaru
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] tsuru_maru
Nature of the Action: Takeo and Sakura want to send their dragonets out of the space station in order to explore the galaxy surrounding Sacrosanct/Asphodel. (Dragons in Narutaru are shown to be capable of surviving the extreme conditions of deep space.)
Explain in more detail how this will work: Tsurumaru and Sakura would like to search Sacrosanct for a hangar or an escape hatch, and then smuggle their dragon-selves (Hoshimaru and Ensof) out through said exit to let the dragonets explore what the galaxy is like. Sakura's mun and I both understand that it's impossible to leave the star system (read the info pages!), but our characters don't know that, and they'd like to send their dragonets out into the universe to figure out its scope, depth, composition, and whether it's attached to their own.
When do you expect this action to be carried out? Honestly, whenever. Neither character is in a rush. In-game, however, Sakura only recently agreed to help Tsurumaru, and since Tsurumaru has yet to begin looking for the station's hangars, it would probably take 3-7 days before either character can make a move.
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? Nope! Nobody would be harmed in this scenario, nor would any chaos ensue; it is meant to be entirely covert. Actually, I'm almost positive it's a low-key event, but I thought we should put in a request just to be 100% certain that we abide by the game's rules.
(The worst that can happen in this scenario is...I don't know...one of the dragons getting hit by a floating piece of space rock and the owner passing out from pain?)
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? N/A
Does this involve characters other than your own? Yes! The other character who would be directly involved is Sakura Akira/Ensof/[livejournal.com profile] windowsftl. Though not directly involved, I think we might invite other characters in on the mental link-up, if they want to observe any aspect of the universe through Takeo's/Sakura's eyes.
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? Yes, I definitely contacted Sakura's mun beforehand to see if she'd like to participate with me, and she agreed!

Further note: the characters don't intend to go anywhere near Asphodel, since they're looking for a way away from Asphodel/Sacrosanct. I thought this would be important to note. The entire thing would basically be about the characters realizing that the star cluster goes around in one big loop and is inescapable.

[identity profile] inbasefour.livejournal.com 2010-10-15 06:20 am (UTC)(link)
Your Name: Jess
Character Name: GLaDOS
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] inbasefour
Nature of Item: 1 or 2 turrets (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_eMI0n2T1oIc/SKzNUasTelI/AAAAAAAACHY/n9NUdVrsEaY/s400/portal-turret.jpg), in questionable working order.
How Your Character is Obtaining It: She'll stumble upon it/them while scavenging the junkyard for lab materials.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Guards for her future lab/general mischief (she might put one in a public area at some point ~for the lulz~).

[identity profile] cmdr-renegade.livejournal.com 2010-10-17 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
Your Name: Hiku
Character Name: Commander Shepard
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] cmdr_renegade
Nature of Item: A storage container filled with ryncol, and possibly some scattered bottles of NukaCola (Quantum or regular), and some BONK.
How Your Character is Obtaining It: Shepard goes out into the Junkyard, looking for a replacement piece for her armor, and a large BloodPack crate nearly crushes her. She cracks it open, intending to loot, and discovers it is full of Ryncol.

Hell yes.

Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Blockparty. Mostly to get the crew/TF2-zies/Spartans drunk.

[identity profile] dug-the-dog.livejournal.com 2010-10-25 08:49 am (UTC)(link)
Your Name: Hiku
Character Name: Dug
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] dug_the_dog
Nature of Item: A compartmentalized Life Support System, preferably with additional CO2 scrubbers.
How Your Character is Obtaining It: Really, I'm not sure how Dug would find this thing. Whether he pulled it out of something else, grabbed it from a hospital, or found it in the junkyard, it doesn't actually matter.
Briefly Explain the Intended Purpose of the Item: Dug was looking for the thing in the picture Virgil (tiny screen man, or somesuch) sent him. He finds it and wishes to exchange it for steak. Steak which, ironically, would be easier to find than a compartmentalized life support system.

[identity profile] heterochromiia.livejournal.com 2010-11-09 04:31 am (UTC)(link)
Your Name: tricks
Character Name: sollux captor
Character Journal: [livejournal.com profile] heterochromiia
Nature of the Action: hacking the network and givin' people's wearables sum viruses!
Explain in more detail how this will work: So basically, Sollux is bored and has been for some time. When Sollux is bored, he makes viruses. And besides that, he's been salivating over the wearables' OS and wants to try out screwing with it. This is sort of a test and a bout of trolling all in one. Basically, anyone who views or responds to an entry Sollux will make at some point after the current event is over (I'll go with whichever option other players prefer for transmission) will have a virus transmitted to their wearable.

This virus has a "randomization" effect added to it, embedding itself in a different system and in a different way for everyone; none of these will be harmful, but some of them could be embarrassing, like for example loudly broadcasting porn audio for three days. Alternately it could just be something like having the word "weasel" inserted between every two words the character affected types; what effect it is really depends on what the player in question wants to do with it. It also has a "key" allowing Sollux to see who has the virus and take remote control of their wearable if he wants, sort of kind of ish like a Trojan. Which he won't be abusing unless someone specifically asks me to do so. The virus ONLY applies to the wearables' OS; think like an iPhone virus or something.

After three days Sollux will flush the virus completely from all wearables and announce to the network that they just got troooooolled. Event over, everyone has a good laugh or a good bitch at him. The end! ♥
When do you expect this action to be carried out? hopefully relatively soon after the current event is over!
Is this illegal and/or sure to have negative consequences? idk maybe it'll piss some people off but he's just pulling a tiny prank, basically, nothing serious. i'm not sure of the legality of it, you'd have to tell me on that score.
If so, do you have a plan for what's going to happen to your character? not yet because i don't anticipate much. if someone wants to plot out ICC for sollux with me because their character is just that angry, or if hypatia would B|-face at him for it, i'd be happy to.
Does this involve characters other than your own? sure does!
If so, have you gotten the other players' permission? since the virus will be transmitted by way of viewing or responding to sollux's entry, this is a completely opt-in plot for shits and giggles. i just figured it would be fun to have something silly like this go down.
