Okay guys...

So this SHODAN event. I'd put this in the discussion thread, but I don't think anyone will see it.

First: Is two weeks too long? First week is just kidnapping people and doing hideous things to them, second is big damn heroes. I thought it'd give a semi-realistic timeframe for grabbing and mutating folks, but now that I think about it that's kind of a long time in LJRP terms. If so, how do you guys want me to divide the time? Advice?

Second: Thinking of March 5 as a tentative start date, since my spring break starts next Wednsday at 11:00 pm, and that gives me a week of relative freeeeedom. how do you feel about this.

honestly i would rather do this than the dead space event right now? i mean we already have a lot of this planned out, it'll be tons of fun, etc. it isn't teal's fault that the dspace event didn't happen earlier. :c

i should clarify a little more why i'd favor doing this now too - at the beginning of march all my midterms are done, which makes it a great time for an event which sollux is heavily involved in even if he's out of direct action for a lot of it. if it comes in april, though, that's round 2 of my midterms, which means i won't be around as much as i should. i'm assuming a lot of this is the same for other college kids too.

BLUH BLUH POST OF A THOUSAND EDITS BUT - the thing about the dead space event is that it's not player driven and doesn't need specific players to be in the thick of it. if the sshock event is put off till april or may, though, that's midterms and finals respectively, which means a lot of essential personnel won't be around as much as they should...

I understand that, but the planned DS event has been on the mod schedule for a while and is going to lead into the introduction of some important NPCs that might actually be of some use in SHODAN's plot.

I'm also in the process of moving across the country, so it's now or never.

Can I suggest a buffer of at least a couple weeks between the DS event and the SHODAN event? Just so it's not big violent event followed immediately by big violent event.

Yeaaah, I totally forgot about the DS event D: I thought it was supposed to happen in early Feb and when it didn't I forgot about it entirely. It hought I'd get a two week buffer by aiming for March 5 and I was aiming for that becuase it's the easiest time for me to run an event...

It was supposed to happen late Feb, actually, which is why it's happening late Feb. It was announced sometime in the last mod post that it was happening late this month. Plot dates are something that should be run by us mods in advance so that we can schedule things out.

I will say this. I don't want to fight you guys on this, and you, of course, hold the ultimate authority in this kind of thing. i've also modded before, and I've had to delay plots before myself, so I know how it is. If I have to delay my plot, I will...

but I also think you guys were not as clear as you could have been on this. When you said "February" I assumed it would be around mid February, somewhere between the 13th and the 21st. This is not February, this is March, which is a little unfair; not only to the players invested in this particular plot, but to the ones interested more in the DS plot as well.

Well, I'm backing off the issue then. I'm currently trying to log out what I can in advance with a few of the other players for convenience's sake later, so that should help somewhat on the time issue.

Is there a more set date for the DS event at this point in time?

The information was supposed to go up tonight and tentatively we'll keep to that plan, but with the scheduling mistakes and such here and people's midterms being tight, I'll talk to the other mods about our event plans.

I know I personally want to run my event as planned as it has been for months just as Teal wants to run hers, but at the same time events are up to the players and I don't want to crush anyone's fun. As it is, it's in Teal's favor.

Just popping in here to suggest maybe doing a poll? They're obviously both going to happen eventually; the poll would just be to decide what event happens next.

I'm not seeing that post anywhere. There are two days left in February, which makes this seem...rather sudden for a late February event, especially considering that the SHODAN plot has been wide out in the open for a while, and it's been said over and over that whenever time is convenient for the players is a time that we can do this event, and we'd schedule dates when we had an idea of that convenience. There have been no real announcements or anything that have been easily accessible. I only knew there was a DSpace event through word of mouth.

I know moving is stressful and all, but you're kind of blaming us for something that is not our deal.

I... don't really see any blaming going on? All she's saying is that player-run plot start dates should be run by the mods for approval before tossing them out there. The DS event had to be delayed for several reasons, and running it will be difficult if it's put off for much longer, but none of that is being blamed on you guys.

Okay. But I mean, we had no dates from you guys to plan around either, and little to no idea of what to expect if we weren't in on chat or wherever you guys talk about this stuff. Do you know when you are planning the Dead Space event to begin and end, or even just a basic "x amount of days" timeframe? How much recovery time you think the RP will need? Ideas of what you're going to do with it?

I'm sorry, it's just. The mods have dropped the ball on a few events while they were happening already, and the last survival horror one was not very opt-in at all. So I want to be sure that this one will happen pretty soon and in an orderly fashion if we absolutely have to delay this plot for it, you know? Because I have heard next to nothing about it beyond "Dead Space" and "NPCs," and I'd rather not end up in a situation where the SHODAN plot goes down when we're cramming for finals rather than midterms, because it is very involving and there's only so much I can log beforehand.

I might be missing discussions on this elsewhere, but, isn't there the Homestuck plot supposed to be going on soon too? With Jack or whatever? That makes 3 events in the very near future which I'm a little (unsurefaiiiss) about.

Maybe a poll that's gamewide to determine what we do in what order?

Homestuck and Abraxas plot should only take up one post if we can organize the former into separate threads. These other two are actually long plots.

As much as I am interested in the SHODAN plot because HAL's got a role in it, I'm hoping the Jack thread would come first so that I can have Kanaya killed off for it and not have to control her for the event until she comes back from a possible canon update.

But I digress.

as down as I am for SHODAN, in-game plot relevant event > player event.

Aside from the general herp derp involved in planning, that is simply how I prioritize things.

I mean maybe a week and a Half so that in the middle of the first week everyone can be like OH SHIT KIDNAPPED FRIENDS and then from that point on, the rescue commences while the mutations are still going on. So like about....

The T-X still wants to try and corrupt that potentially vulnerable AI system with her sexy drill-finger and stuff, so as to remotely control... And if that's not possible, will see it as a possible threat to an eventual Skynet.

Which could possibly over-ride the 'kill John Connor' thing, in terms of priorities.

However! There are what looks like a bitchload of other characters already involved and more could be complicated! I'm willing to have her silently sit stuff out!
