This is Michael Altman, from the novel Dead Space: Martyr. Those of you familiar with the games might recognize him as the supposed prophet of the Unitology religion.

He's a geophysicist who just happened to get caught up in some really heavy shit and subsequently was kidnapped, tortured, imprisoned, and eventually thrown into a pit and forced to fight one of these fuckers with a spoon. Yeah, three guesses how that turned out for him. Also his girlfriend is deeeeeeeead.

After all the crap he went through he's going to be a little unstable for a bit, but Altman's a pretty tough cookie o7
