Hypatia Event OOC Post #3 - Beginning and Asphodel
Hey, everyone, this is the OOC post for the Asphodel log.
If anyone has any questions, concerns, or suggestions please post them here. At the end of the week, or whenever you feel your character's thread has reached a logical conclusion and you're ready to move on and return to the station, please post a summary of your character's CR, basic opinions, which cheerleader they hate the most, and a quick recap of what generally went down.
It seems like a weird AC, but it's really just something I'd appreciate for clerical reasons, and something that could help people who don't have time to read everything.
If/When you do post that, please put a header: OOC RECAP - CHARACTER NAME
(This one is strictly for my benefit, really, but I would very much appreciate it.)
In regards to this post specifically:
Log or Action OK.
Reasonable New Areas OK.-- If you want to tag an area not listed, before the speech, outside, or something more specific than what is listed, feel free to make a new tag to the post itself. Please add the location into the header.
Wobble-Time OK.--Shepard's speech is, effectively, the first thing that happens. To tag before that, please just put something to that effect in the header. Similarly with dating the next day, late that night, etc.
Speech thread tagging OK.--Feel free to tag any immediate responses to other characters in the Speech thread. Shepard won't be answering them, but that's a viable header to post under.
All technology is bullshit.--So, aside from the storm and the topography, the supply crates are littered about to help make CR easier. The general environment is very spartan, and the crates will only really have things that a military group would toss into them (rations and not cakes, single wool blankets not comforters), but if you want to godmod the content of them, or any relevant reasonable technology (i.e. there's a portable microwave to cook that terrible ration you're gonna eatbut it has no weight setting) go for it.
If your character wants to look over tactical data, but doesn't want to chill in the war-room, Shepard and/or any of the Normandy Crew could logically give them a digital copy, or they could steal a physical copy from the war room. (They're in the...making this easier on everyone box, but hardcopy can't go back to the station for...obvious reasons.)
I hope this helps! I don't want the limits of the IC situation putting insurmountable constraints on CR.

OOC RECAP - ICKLE!STEPH
Steph has wandered around, talked to just about everybody, and decided that she does want to be a part of the plan. She hasn't actually come out and said "Hi I'm a vigilante"
yetbut if it comes up she's not going to deny it. And she probably told Shepard and anyone else who might really need to know what she's capable of.OOC Recap: Deadlock you love him so much don't you?
Everyone pisses him off.
Oh, more precision? Fine.
He's been reunited with Eve, who has reminded him why he didn't miss her. He met some new people, with his usual charm, including Steph up there, and EDI, whom he hates.
He's also really made an impression on Shepard not only by being charming huge scowly robot but by insisting to both her and EDI that something is done to rescue Tria, who is the closest thing he had to a friend here. Boo hoo is robot life is so sad.
ALSO question (because I am all about efficiency) is there time in game-time for Deadlock to go on a scouting mission to Tria's old medbay?
Adore him.

OOC RECAP - Marco
I'm pretty sure Marco doesn't even know why he's bothering to be a part of this, other than some completely unexplainable sense that he just sort of has to be a part of it. Even though he's acting entirely like he's blowing it off, he's actually taking it pretty seriously; he's only been on the station for a few days and already knows that it’s not going to be just a kick back and relax space-vacation. He's sort of realizing that he's probably in over his head, but better swim than sink! (except he can't swim, fuck)
CR summary
(some stuff is still ongoing, but here are highlights)
Marco may or may not be harboring a secret boner for Shepard due to his inability to ignore his mildly unfortunate and entirely-subconscious-mind-you inability to ignore women who can beat the crap out of him. However, he is probably going to end up as a cockroach crawling through vents to spy on shit for her and/or busting shit up as a gorilla so who knows!
Marco and Roxas bonded over the lack of decent rations and their reasons for joining the crusade. Mostly, he's amused at having someone younger and less experienced than himself to assert superiority over. Good food for the ego.
Marco hung out with Arthur for a bit to bullshit about food and girls. Marco made a deck of playing cards by scribbling on some pieces of notebook paper that Arthur donated and asked if the point man and the commander are humping.
AU Steph was an accomplice of Marco’s in an impromptu, unintentional Mako-jacking.
Marco randomly pestered AU York to see what she's up to so he can figure out more of what's going on. But mostly to gripe about how they're all going to die, probably.

OOC RECAP - ARTHUR
Arthur is hanging out with Marco, shooting the shit, and at some point will approach Kaidan (and possibly Shepard), offering his skills as a hacker and a point man, and also to ask about the data they acquired.
He takes a lot of notes on everyone, creeper.

OOC RECAP - Zelgadis
Zelgadis has been pretty sick of this whole twiddle-your-thumbs-wait-for-Hypatia-to-get-bored nonsense, and is glad for an opportunity to act. Unfortunately, nearly everyone is frivolous, annoying, or otherwise incompetent as far as he's concerned, so he doesn't have the greatest hopes for success. Still, better that they're doing something. Maybe.
CR Summary
(some stuff is still ongoing, but here are highlights)
Zelgadis offered himself to Shepard as backup/defensive cover even though she has no idea what he means by 'hi I can cast spells'. Eventually, he should actually try out how useful magical zapping works against pew pew guns and lasers.
After a conversation about weapons and fighting tactics, Zel decided that Wash is still an idiot and it's a wonder he's still alive. Someday they are going to snap and start grappling on the floor like children.
After a pleasant heart-to-heart with AU Steph, Zelgadis hopes that she's not going to completely flake out on everyone and also that she babbles too much about Feelings.
Zelgadis is seriously not bros with Deadlock after being randomly harassed by the grouchy robot.
AU Duo is still a pretty good bro.
Zelgadis met Emile and thinks he's a Class B Suspicious Fellow, but in some vague attempt to get to know people he will be fighting with, made some effort at civil conversation. They are totally not really bros.
Also met AU Wash/Epsilon and has so far not yet decided that this one is as much of an idiotic ass as the other one.
OOC RECAP - ASHLEY
- Had a talk with Femshep re: new recruits, tactical updates, hey-shep-tell-me-about-your-feels. Ongoing.
- Broshep came by to check up on her in typical Paragon fashion. Ongoing.
- Hi Kaidan wat r u doin. Ongoing?
- Glad to see Samus is along for the ride. Ongoing.
Ashley spent most of her time in and around the war room- dealing with the guns (I kind of run with her always being at the weapon bench in ME1), going over if not necessarily shaping tactics, answering questions from the recruits, that kind of thing. You were a lot more likely to see her out and about the rest of the camp than, say, Shepard or Kaidan, though.
Ashley is all for this. She trusts Shepard implicitly; even if she didn't, she's been itching to see Hypatia taken offline for ages. As Hiku established, she's the gun lady, and she'll be training the newbies in the fine art of shooting things without hurting yourself.* Since she's best with rifles, she'll probably be in a long-range/support role once the actual assault starts.**
* I've only ever handled guns a couple times, myself, and certainly never in a military capacity. There's probably something I can google or wikipedia that would help here, but it might be easier to be vague or handwavey about the actual training.
** Soldiers are the tanks in ME1- training in all weapons, heavy armor, plus Immunity (basically another layer of armor); ME3 gives her more emphasis on damage-dealing instead of defense. Vega's the Abrams tank on legs, so he gets the defensive skills. The more you know~
OOC Recap of sorts for AUWashington/Epsilon and AURinzler
Rinzler isn't exactly the talky type, so just assume him as lurking in the background...
Wash and Epsilon aren't exactly as outgoing as they used to be in game, and they'd be quieter, but I'm sure they'd have been talking to people.
If you want to play out a chat with either one or want to handwave it and discuss here what they talked about, reply here.
EDIT: Will be tagging anyways after thought and will update here as things go instead.
OOC RECAP - YORK
OOC Recap - Eve
She shared her snacks with Roxas and basically acted like a creepy little girl at him because she is a creepy little girl.
It can be assumed that her general plan is to hide in the vents and wage a tiny campaign of geurilla warfare on the smaller drones until Hypatia wises up and floods the vents with neurotoxin or something. She will probably inform Shepard of this at some point.
TBE if anyone wants her anywhere else
OOC Recap - Kanaya
Her general plan is that once any wounded are taken care of is to go on a single-minded campaign to figure out where Hypatia is putting all her friends, because she doesn't believe they've all gone back home.
OOC Recap - Tucker
His general plan is to blow shit up and try not to die.
no subject
Complained about space food and talked with Marco, Ashley, Steph, Eve, and 479er about it.
Volunteered with Commander Sheppard about doing stuff.
What he is currently doing:
Going through the junkyard with Zelgadis.
OOC RECAP - Emile
He's offered his take on tactics, some basic weapons, and most importantly his impressive skills as an assault specialist to Shepard. He lives for nothing more than to be in the front lines of any action, and fighting through robotic defenses may not be as satisfying as slicing up aliens but it's a damn sight better than sitting at home twiddling his thumbs.
He spoke with a number of others on the planet, including Zelgadis (DOESN'T TRUST, LOOKS LIKE AN ALIEN), both Washingtons (could be very useful in the assault, especially if they can get over themselves and work as part of teams), and Steph (who seems like a civvie, but if she wants to fight, Emile will just make sure he draws the fire away from her).
Oh, and he also gave Carolina a head injury in training, causing her to shave her hair off. Whoops.
OOC RECAP - CORTANA
Besides speaking with Washington, she used her holo-projection to talk to a few people herself, such as EDI and Washington. Mostly about tanks. When Emile went to speak to Shepard, she listened in, contributing with explanations on UNSC tech on the like when she had the opportunity.
At some point, she would've offered her mastery at hacking and encryption to Shepard in whatever capacity it could help.
OOC RECAP - ROSE
OOC Summary: EDI/Kimiko
infodumpsconversations with a variety of other people, except for Deadlock because his infodump-versation was punctuated by shouting matches and tattling to mom. Also she taught Marco how to guns, a little.
Kim: Was on Sacrosanct, citing "because of reasons" as her excuse for not being able to go. But she offered to engineer things for Shepard upon her return and has demonstrated a certain mastery of the teleporters and other robotic things in the past, so that has to count for something.
