MOD ANNOUNCEMENT--PLAYER PLOTS, OOC COMMUNICATION, AU POLICY

Hello, Singularity! It has been just over a month since we’ve made the move to Dreamwidth. ‘Growing pains’ is an understatement, but thanks to our player base, we have had a very successful transition. As we move closer into March we would like to make a couple announcements regarding a few things that were put on the back burner during the move.

PLAYER PLOTS

Firstly, we apologize for the delay, but are happy to announce that large scale player plots are now OPEN. Requests are still made in the the plot and suggestion post and still only required if the plot in question affects more than those directly involved in the planning. Any requests already in the plot suggestion post are being looked over now, and will be responded to as soon as possible.

If you wish to make a plot suggestion, we ask that you understand the ones already in the post take precedence. Any questions you have surrounding player plots that aren’t answered on the requests page should be taken to the FAQ page, or a mod directly. Happy scheming!

OOC COMMUNICATION

Secondly, we would like to bring up the issue of player-to-player and mod-to-player communication. RP has numerous forums of communication outside of the game proper, and it can be difficult to keep track of who uses what. To alleviate any frustration, we’ve in the past asked that players make any contact information they feel comfortable sharing with the rest of the player base easily accessible. We continue to encourage players to make themselves known, albeit within their comfort zone.

We also suggest that players track the OOC comm with their personal and/or roleplaying-specific email. It will keep you updated on mod announcements and in the know about new players, player plots you might want in on, etc. We promise your inbox won’t explode. To track the comm in general, or just specific tags, click the bell icon that appears at the top of the post (this may be different if you force viewing in your style), and select either the comm as a whole, or the tag you want from the dropdown menu.

We would also like to take this time to officially announce that the Singularity moderators now have a communal plurk that anyone is free to follow, [plurk.com profile] singmods. Please follow our moderator plurk for updates, other announcements, or to send the mod team a private plurk. This isn’t Romance, and therefore not mandatory.

The moderators employ almost every popular channel of communication in the roleplaying community (AIM, private messaging, plurk, etc.) for your benefit. Except when on an announced hiatus, all moderators can, and expect to be, contacted when a player has need of them. We operate to help you, the player. Our information is listed on the FAQ page. We would also like the stress that all moderators are team members, but not all team members are moderators. Please double-check that you are getting into contact with an actual moderator when trying to reach one.

AU POLICY

To reiterate the above statement; player-to-mod communication is important, and we want to make ourselves as available as possible. We've provided a lot of detail on AUs on the application page to serve as guidelines for interested applicants and encourage players who plan to apply for AUs to make sure they understand our requirements. We handle any applications coming from an AU on a case-by-case basis; the moderators have the final say on what is and isn’t admissible. Ultimately, all applications are subject to the team's best judgment. If for whatever reason you’re in doubt about whether your character falls within our guidelines, please contact a moderator directly. In many cases, we'll be able to suggest changes that would bring the AU to a point where it meets our rules.

Thank you for your attention, and for helping to make Singularity a great game.
