Valentine's Events

Guess what's coming up? No, besides Floral Design Day.

That's right, Valentine's Day. As part of her continuing quest to understand pan-universal culture (but apparently only the painfully commercial parts) Hypatia is hosting a series of Valentine's events. Love is in the air--but fortunately not in the form of spores this time.

Feb 4th: Speed Dating

One Earth-human romantic practice is speed dating, an efficient process to assess compatibility, of which Hypatia approves. She will be sponsoring a speed dating event in advance of Valentine's Day, in order to encourage pairing off, as is traditional for the holiday.

To promote participation, Hypatia will compensate participants with one work credit. Underage characters are welcome to attend, but will only be matched with with other underage characters on a separate roster from the adults.

Feb 10th: Singles Auction

While not hosted by Hypatia, we're putting this here because it's part of the Holiday-Industrial Complex. Eric Northman and Knock Out are staging a singles auction for "charity." As with any self-respecting front, half the cash is going into the organizers' pockets, but it's not like they're going to broadcast that little fact.

Eric has announced it IC, and look for a signup post soon!

Feb 14th: Space Prom II: Prom Harder

Human entertainment media suggests that putting a bunch of people in fancy clothes into a reasonably-sized room and playing music at them facilitates romance, as does the provision of alcohol. Therefore, on the day itself, Hypatia is hosting a dance. To create the proper atmosphere, appropriate formalwear will be made available to guests regardless of work credit balance.

Notice to all guests: Romance is mandatory. Life support outside the facility hosting the event will be shut down for the duration. (Characters who don't need air/gravity/heat will be able to avoid the Prom, but only if they stay out of the teleporters that night. Otherwise they'll get dumped into the event hall and then be stuck.)

Question for dragons/giant robots/other: Do you want the option of having your characters humanized or scaled down for the event?

Surely Cupid's arrows will fly, and nothing about any of this could possibly result in a comedy of errors, awkward mornings after, or horrible violence!
