Potato Event planning post 2, FORM UR TEAMS

So you've volunteered to retrieve one of the ten maybe more than ten many data discs that has been hidden away in some dangerous location. Maybe you volunteered because you're bored. Maybe your buddy is going and you can't let that idiot get himself/herself killed. Maybe you want some of those lovely reward credits. Whatever the reason, here's what you need to know:

Each Team is going to be named with the NATO letters, (Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc) and should ideally have no more than 4 members plus a vegetable. 4 to a Team is not a hard rule, just to keep the logs from lagging. Each Team will need to determine a Team Leader who is going to carry Veggie Hypatia, although she can certainly be passed off to someone else. Feel free to pick your Teams and Team Leaders OOCly, have IC fights over who should be in charge, etc, Team Leader won't have to do anything ICly unless they really want to. For the purposes of writing the logs, though, the Team Leader should probably also be the person willing to act as a Dungeon Master and say "and then they turned a corner and suddenly there were turrets/magamaworms/a drone patrol!" OOC COMMUNICATION WILL BE VERY IMPORTANT. Talk to your team players, find out what they'd like to do, find out what their characters abilities are, work something out that everyone on the team would like to play. Build sum CR. Veggie Hypatia is there ICly to give helpful hints and read the map, but obviously I won't be able to direct 10+ logs at the same time, so each Team is on their own to determine what they want to have happen. Do they get overwhelmed by enemies? Do they have to put aside differences to survive? Do they get stupidly lost and stand around bickering? Treed by hungry dinosaurs? Outrun magmaworms on motorcycles? Pick any outcome you like, so long as your Team is okay with it.

Choose your Teams in the comments below, or IM or PM people and let me know the final Team rosters. If players want to be randomized, I'll make a list of them and then create those teams at the end. I'm happy to create extra scenarios if players want to form teams of 2 or w/e. IF ANYONE HAS ANY ISSUE WITH TEAM PLACEMENT, PLEASE TALK TO ME AND WE'LL WORK SOMETHING OUT. Extra people can be added to any team if necessary, I'm simply wary of group logs with too many players as those tend to lag.

If you want your character to do a quest/join a team because it's IC for them but you don't feel you have time to play, COMMENT THAT YOU WANT TO AUTOPILOT THIS. Autopilot characters can either attach themselves to another character that it would be IC for them to stick together, or there can be an autopilot team. Feel free to handwave things as well, these are your logs and if you'd rather write your Team bickering around a campfire instead of being shot at, please do so.

All quests will end in success unless someone notifies me. And by success I mean, each data disc will have been retrieved physically or copied onto someone's wearable or Veggie Hypatia otherwise has the information so it can be relayed to the engineers. If you want your entire Team to die and/or fail the quest, you can certainly do that, but just let me know.

Also if you lose your vegetable, Hypatia will not give you credits for having completed the Quest upon return to the station. She told you very specifically not to drop her or throw her at enemies or let her get abducted by birds, damn you.

The data discs themselves will be small enough to insert into someone's wearable, like a flash drive, and each disc will have not only a piece of the containment chamber schematic but also some other fragmented information about Sacrosanct and Asphodel's history. Hypatia will collect all of this and piece it together ICly for the network to read when the containment chamber is built. Before that, feel free to discuss the fragments with other Teams or within Teams.

Yes there are some extra teams, that's just in case.

Scenarios:

The Quest Scenarios will be numbered 1-10 or whatever it ends up being and follow the same basic premise. Your Team will be teleported in to a location near a Base, and have to make their way to the Base, brave some random creatures, break into the Base, deal with automated defenses, steal the data disc, and then book it back to the teleporter before the Boss Fight Enemy finds you. Each Quest will have descriptions of the locale, the kind of dangerous creatures/enemies you can encounter there, their weaknesses, etc. Hypatia will have also loaded this information ICly into the wearables of the Team members, if your character is the type to bother reading that sort of thing in advance. If your Team doesn't want to encounter any enemies at all aside from automated defenses, which can be shut down or overloaded or avoided rather than fought through, they can certainly choose that.

Sacrosanct Quests are going to be based in different Zones but the basic layout will be the same: a wilderness location and then a generic military-esque base. Enemies will include random wildlife, automated defenses in/around the base like electric fences/motion sensing guns, turrets that are NOT networked together and have to be avoided or shut down individually or just knocked over, and then some kind of optional boss fight enemy if your characters want to really brawl. For Sacrosanct, this will be a Type 47 Ultra Heavy Assault Platform, aka a Scarab. It will be unmanned and remotely controlled by the crazy Hypatia fragment guarding the piece of the schematic you came to get, and it will be in whatever state of disrepair your Team wants to deal with, from fully operational to just needs a few more good hits to knock down. Your Team is also welcome to steal/salvage equipment while on the Quest. Need a jeep with a turret? Maybe a jetpack or a flamethrower? Go ahead and say you found one. Unfortunately, any extra equipment like this will break down or get destroyed during the fight, so consider it temporary event equipment.

Asphodel Quests will be roughly the same, with a few differences concerning the teleporters and network communications that I'll detail in an Asphodel Guide. Basically, your Team will have to physically fly down to Asphodel in an automated shuttle or in a vehicle character. From the starting point of a landing strip, essentially, the characters will make their way into the subterranean tunnels and follow directions for what is likely to be a few miles. The smooth, straight, and illuminated constructed tunnel will give way to a winding worm tunnel, and your characters will find an abandoned drone outpost with a few remaining functioning automatic defenses. Your "wildlife" encounters in the tunnels will be smaller magmaworms and rogue drones, easily driven off or defeated or escaped if your Team keeps their heads. The optional Boss Fight Enemy on Asphodel will be, of course, a fully grown magmaworm, attracted by all your loud shenanigans.

Keep in mind that any events in these logs should be determined by your Team. You can get someone injured or keep everyone safe, storm in guns blazing or sneak in without alerting any security at all, get the Quest done in half a day or several days. If you want to get someone killed, that is also okay, but be aware that anyone who dies on Asphodel is going to respawn back on the station, and probably too late to get back to join their Team as there is a time lag.

QUESTIONS/COMMENTS HIT ME WITH THEM, also I'll be putting up Hypatia's IC Hey Why Don't You Guys Go Get Me Stuff post tonight on Saturday. Nobody will need a Team roster decided until the Quest logs actually go up, which won't be until this weekend anyway, so don't worry if you're coming to this late. No one is late!

And, previous planning post is here.
