Hey, as I've been hinting around, I've got to call a hiatus. Basically, my senior thesis is due two years early fuckkkkk at the end of this month, after which, I've got to move back to the States. Which means I'm going to be completely nonexistent on the RP front for more than a month. At least until after May 17th.

I'm going to keep backtagging (even if it takes me a million years god I am so slow sorry), and I should be around on AIM (just not as much as I usually am), but new posts and new threads? Not happening as much.

OKAY So I was at Boskone which is a local Boston SF literature convention that has been running since about 1940. It's currently run by the New England Science Fiction Association.

On Thursday night when I was helping with convention setup, I ended up chatting with an older gentleman who'd been in the SF fandom for a very long time. I... hope I am remembering the conversation correctly, but it went something like this:

Me: "So, you were in the MIT Science Fiction Society back in the day?"
Him: "Yeah, back when it first started. I remember there was this one guy who came to all the meetings, he was such a jerk. Flirted with all the women who tried to show up, said the dumbest things at meetings, thought that getting published made him all that. Arrogant asshole."
Me: "Yeahhh, there's one in every fandom group. Some things never change."
Him: "Yeah, that Asimov guy. We told him to leave but nope. What a dick."
Somebody else: "Man, I miss that dick."

I didn't say anything because I was too busy trying to figure out where my jaw went after I'd dropped it.



*E* this is the same weekend I got to have tea with Charles Stross and listen to him complain about American tea; also hang out with one of the editors for TOR. Boskone is AWESOME.
