AI Guidelines 101
Howdy everyone, (perhaps especially mods maybe?),
I've had Mack tip toeing around the station because he's an Smart AI competent in hacking, and would get even more so when Loki is active. By tip toeing, I mean that I haven't possessed any station drones (like Mack often used to do with the tractors in my canon), taken advantage of the abundant holographic equipment to recreate Old Western environments in random hallways... stuff like that.
Is there some rite of passage for AIs, and as dominant AI, does Hypatia ever make an appearance to go, "Watch yo'self before you wreck yo'self" or the like?
I've also just cautiously hand waved Mack's ability to interface with the station, while being aware that as a program new to the station, (and technologically outdated), I may have code limitations.
TL;DR summary: is there a Sacrosanct Firmware patch or introduction memo for AIs?
AI players, how do you regulate yourself?

Okay so as for permissions, there's a lot available to an AI on Sacrosanct. Mack can create holograms (even touchable holograms) wherever he pleases UNLESS he wants to do it, say, inside someone's residence, or covering an entire city or some huge action that would require player permission or mod permission. But if he wanted to take over a small area, like a building or a something comparable, that would be fine and you can have him do that as you please.
As for taking over station drones, that would be canon and allowable to any AI on Sacrosanct, but we ask you to keep it limited to small drones/a small number of drones UNLESS you want him to have more, in which case that can be requested on the requests page and a mod will approve or deny it. The IC explanation behind this is that Hypatia, while usually allowing the station residents a great deal of freedom, will come down hard on any single individual that seems to be usurping her stuff. She could care less if someone wants to build a droid army in their basement, but if they start taking over too many of HER droids, she will ICly step in. She is supposed to monitor everything that is said and done on the station but she's also crazy, so you never know when/what she's paying attention to.
Mack would also have access to anything he'd like to buy on the station, once he completes a job (found on the Job Board) or hacks some credits, which you can be asked for on the requests page. This could be anything from a full cyborg body, if he'd like one, to his own farm complex in one of the wilderness Zones, if he wants to recreate a little bit of Harvest.
As for directly interfacing, the basic idea is that Hypatia is a nutbar and Mack doesn't want to be in too much direct contact with her systems, because if she feels he's being too intrusive she will regard him as a security threat and come after him. So it's much safer for an AI to use their personal network device (which he would've been given on arrival, or had magically installed by the rift), which is basically like his own ~super advanced~ tiny laptop. He can access the public network with this device without actually putting himself IN the communication systems, although he can do that as well if he's willing to risk Hypatia's notice. Consider her possessive of everything on the station and extremely unwilling to share, but she does prioritize her military functions and also life support. She has personal control over those and will not allow outside interference.
As for hacking, we have quite a few characters who are all supposed to be super hackers in their own canons, so it can be a chore to figure out what so and so is capable of hacking and what they aren't. As a rule of thumb I like to recommend that people simply mark their posts as hackable or unhackable, but you'll see posts that are "80% Hackable" or "UNSC encrypted." If you're unsure about whether you should have Mack hacking into these, just contact the player. Anything marked "filtered" or "private" with no other distinction should be considered unbreakable just as a courtesy to the players. If they want other players to hack their stuff, they will let everyone know. Also do feel free to contact castmates about what they want Mack and/or Loki snooping on or not, sometimes it's more interesting CR for him to see private conversations, sometime players prefer things remain private even if Mack would canonly be capable of hacking everything.
In general, only NPCs like Hypatia, Twosix-six, and Lev are capable of hacking ANYTHING and monitoring everything on the station. Player characters should consider themselves more limited in order to not break the game.

Yeah, I figured out some of that, but it's good to see it in print.
As for the job board, is that part of logs/network/some place?
How do jobs work exactly?
When I was apping Mack, I simultaneously thought of apping a customer service job on the station, (as hinted at in my user name), just because that really was Mack's natural social vehicle: popping up to help fix tech things for SpAaAcE Farmers.
Not sure exactly how this would work, as besides the job listings near the application bin, I'm a little clueless to the mechanic...
I mean, the passing of time is by essence of the game format a tad subjective here. Theoretically, in the span of IRL time, how many jobs could Mack complete/would he need to detail somewhere which ones?
[Thanks for the answers so far.]

OH ALSO I GUESS any of the Spartans or Freelancers might be equipped to carry Mack around inside their helmets, if that's something you're interested in playing out. He's also free to whip up his own body if he'd like, or just use holographic projections, whatever you prefer to play.
