About Teleportation Events

Moderator question! It's needed for something which might possibly be coming up soon...

If one character goes through a transportation thing, is there a way for another character to come up to it and figure out where the last destination was to? Or, if not, could it be forced open/hacked or something?

Just wondering if they can be used as easy ways to escape confrontations or if a character can simply be chased through them!

It might be a little difficult for an average human to figure out what string of numbers equals the destination teleporter, but it's probably fair to say that a Terminator or determined tech-savvy character could figure it out. It would also be equally possible for someone passing through a teleporter to deliberately obscure their location if they had enough time to mess with the console before actually walking through. Teleporters HAVE to be given a location each time someone goes through them, as a public transit system with security issues, the destination would not simply be left open for the next person. But destination information would be stored in the console and able to be accessed and changed.

In other words, yes destinations can be accessed with determination, no simple chases through them unless some part of the second person is already inside the teleporter area, like an outstretched hand. Public safety protocols would prevent someone losing a limb in this way, and would either hold the teleporter open and send both through once they were both inside the designated area or negate the whole thing. 50/50 chance of either.

Hypatia is also more likely to get irritated with characters mucking around her teleporter systems, but she's not going to take any action unless they seem to be damaging the system or trying to get at more important information stored in the teleporter consoles, like genetic data.
