Hey!

The setting section should focus on explaining the world of BSG in a way that someone who is not a fan of the show could understand. Providing some backstory as an anchor is important, as is a description of the state of affairs at the canon point from which you'll be taking your character. Plot events should only be included if they change the status quo; we are not looking for a plot summary. A good way to approach it is to think of where the fictional world differs from our own, and to explain those differences.

The setting section should also give us some idea of how your character fits into the universe without turning into a history section--including that Darth Vader is a Sith Lord and right hand to the Emperor is useful, but that he was once a Jedi who was corrupted to the Dark Side is better mentioned in the personality section to give insight into his character. Plot details that don't contribute to either an understanding of the setting or of the character's personality should be left out of the app entirely.

For imported CR, the setting of the game is important so that we can get a feel for how your character would have fit in, and so we can understand the effect his time in the game had on your character's personality. Following the same guidelines as above should suffice: explain the universe, include only events that made significant changes to that universe, and mention events and CR that were important to character development in the personality section.

We hope that clears things up, but if it doesn't feel free to ping one of us on AIM.
