I had imagined the craft would be smaller, since I was going to set up the actual Assault log like the End Run in ME2. Separate teams in separate locations and whoever gets there first either holds the door, the line, or takes care of business...so different pilots and drop-craft would be useful, but a bigger dropship could still provide that function and we can work around starting in the same place if we need to.
We've got a bit before that part comes up, so there's potential for the mechanical characters to get CR building crafts, or learning how to fly them. Other solutions may present themselves in the meanwhile. You may want to capitalize on that CR, but using the Pelican definitely won't exclude you from those opportunities either.
