Also for the cave/hideout/camp thing, it could give those that aren't involved in the assault something to do (i.e. get the camp set up/figure out other mechanics) and if the plot turns out to be the endgame, then it won't matter how much prep they do. It's more of an idea to give non-millitant folks something to do. But it does work for the Aftermath too, now that you suggest it!
