Here, have some mood music, because it is about to get real in the station. It's time for some ...

PHAZON and DARK SAMUS

And what does this mean for you and your characters? Well follow the cut below and you'll see what will happen, when, and what this means for your characters.


Background: In Samus' dimension, a highly mutagenic substance known as Phazon is found by the Space Pirates. Being the creatures of science they are, they attempted to discover ways to use it to their advantage. They found that it could latch itself onto a host's DNA providing a drastic change in muscle mass, additional limbs, claws, and other biological upgrades. However it also makes the host incredibly dependent of Phazon, obsessive on protecting it and spreading it.

Soon she found out something worse, though. The Phazon is sentient. That means, for you kids, that when it latches onto something, it does so with purpose. And that purpose is to spread itself across the galaxy and take over every living thing. Pretty scary.

Well, Samus fought a Metroid filled with this Phazon, dubbed the "Metroid Prime," and in its final death throes it stole her currently acquired armor. Fuzing with this bit of Samus, it became Dark Samus. It continued to try and take over races such as the Space Pirates in order to use them. Samus was like, "screw that shit," and did everything she could to fight this thing. But then she got taken to Sacrosanct.

And now there's some strange blue substance showing up around the station ...

The Oh Shit Moment: Dark Samus will invade the station, intending to infect the citizens with Phazon and eventually corrupt Hypatia, then use it as a launching point to spread it through the entire galaxy. It's up to us to stop her, gang. Or else.

Timeline: This event will run from March 8th to the 12th and will affect primarily Residential and Environmental zones 001 - 003. This means outside of those zones? Your characters are good, and don't have to participate at all.

8th: Characters can begin finding some Phazon around the station, starting in the junkyard. As well they may find a shadowy figure floating around, having armor eerily similar to Samus' ...

9th: Some characters might start feeling sick. As well, Samus herself will find Dark Samus and try to fight. It's not going to go so well.

10th - 11th: This will be the turning point for characters, either they will start dying or start trying to attack others in an attempt to corrupt them. Mutations will also start to appear.

12th: Samus and a group will gather to take down Dark Samus, she will be destroyed, all traces of Phazon will disappear, the station will become a stronger and more unified place, three cheers for the English Flag, huzzah, etc.

So How Will My Characters Be Affected?

There are three different paths you can choose for a character who has encountered Phazon or Dark Samus herself.

1. They will be infected and over the course of 24 hours begin showing traces of "Phazon Sickness," side effects which include dizziness, vomiting, hallucinations, and eventually bodily mutations. This can be increased muscle mass, another row of teeth, claws, pretty much whatever sort of boon in defenses you can think of. They will also have a complete and total devotion to Dark Samus, as well as the urge to spread their corruption. This can be done zombie-style (biting the potential host or infecting them with bodily fluids), or leading them to a source of Phazon.

2. They will be infected, but over the course of 24 hours they will die. Phazon doesn't always infect, quite often it instead kills if a host is not strong enough or simply isn't "right."

3. Nothing will happen to them, they will instead be a badass and say "hey Phazon, screw you."

So, question! For the second option, would a character run through the full gamut of symptoms, or could just some of them kill them? (Like, for example, the bodily mutations don't take, or don't come in right and snap bones instead or something.)

Question! What happens to infected people when the phazon is removed at the end of the event? Will they be left mutated and in need of a visit to the medbays, or will they just fall over dead or something?

Actually hey bro, question. How doe Phazon respond to high temperatures? Like if I wanted Jin to get partially infected or something, would he be able to burn it off?

Crap, forgot to ask: Is just being in the same area as Phazon enough to get infected, or does it require actual contact?

Since I finally found a way to get Mr Stupid here involved in this.

So. Deadlock's been tasked to collect a sample. Will it like...reach up and grab him if he tries to bottle some of it?

Any thoughts on affecting robots?
