hello singlings i heard you like ridiculous plots

SO.

We actually have quite a few characters on this station who play instruments / are musical in some way. Thus, I've been wanting to have a Battle of the Bands miniplot thing for a while.

BUT I need some help organizing it! I have some preliminary notes on how this will work / some ideas for rules, but I need feedback. Even more than that, I need to know WHEN you guys want this to be! For me, the ideal time is after the 17th of December as I'll be out of school by then, but I can be flexible, and I don't want to run up against any more serious plots (or any other silly plots, for that matter).

Here's the rough draft of the rules, as they stand:

I'm playing fast and loose with the rules here, but the idea is that this is basically going to be an IC music meme, and also For The Lulz.

While some of us are probably fantastic musicians, I'm willing to bet that MOST of us are not, and thus unable to write songs for our character's bands to play. Thus, I propose this:

1. Each band group decides on a set of songs. These songs might not literally be what the characters are playing, or, heck, it might be! Maybe you are doing a Queen cover band, I don't know. The point is, each group picks five songs from youtube or whatever (bandcamp if you're Hamsteak, I guess?) to represent their band.

2. The band leader creates a thread under the tba Battle of the Bands post and posts those songs! In that post, specify whether your band is playing those exact songs, or if those songs are just the style your band plays in. For example: Megaman's band is unlikely to ACTUALLY play songs by The Protomen, since those songs represent actual events (save for Hope Rides Alone, which actually does exist in-universe) but their songs will sound a LOT like that. you can feel free to go into as much detail as you like about what the real songs are like! Ie, "this is a RAP/JAZZ/DUBSTEP HYBRID, about TRUE LOVE as experienced between a SPACE ROBOT and his HUMAN HUSBAND." Or something.

3. Characters post under each thread to vote IN CHARACTER. Put in the subject line either YAY or BLUH, depending on your opinion. Each CHARACTER can vote ONCE for each band. It's hard to cheat, since you vote by SHOUTING at the actual performance.

4. Depending on the number of participants, the band with the most YAY votes will get X points, second will get Y points, third will get Z, ec.

5. Then, the judges! Each judge can assign ONE POINT to the band of his or her choice. I'll figure out the numbers proper once I know how many judges we have.

6. THE WINNER IS THE ONE WITH THE MOST POINTS YAY and they will presumably get some sort of IC prize TBD. WHO WANTS TO PROVIDE PRIZES.

7. EVERYONE HAS A GOOD TIME AND WE LISTEN TO SOME SWEET TUNES YAY. ALSO CR IS PRESUMABLY ACHIEVED???

There will also be various schmoozing threads / concert threads or something yeah

SO NOW I'm also going to put up signups for bands and judges. Obviously, two of my characters will be roping you guys into bands, so, there is that.
